Branch topples Salem

SALEM — Addi Craven had two singles, a triple and an RBI to lead West Branch to a 8-3 win over Salem on Friday.

Sara Schmidt had two hits and two RBIs for the Warriors. Nicole Stoffer added a hit and two RBIs. Libbie Davis had a single and double.

Klary McKay had four strikeouts and two walks in the complete game winning effort in the circle.

Lauryn Barton had a single and double with an RBI for Salem. Channing Toy had a double and single as well.

Morgane Blaine had seven strikeouts and two walks in the circle for Salem.

West Branch is 6-6 and 3-2 in the league. Salem fell to 2-12 and 0-5.

Beaver Local 11, Struthers 4

STRUTHERS — Beaver Local bombarded Struthers for an 11-4 win on Friday at Mauthe Park.

Lauren Piscitelli led the assault with a double, home run and four RBIs. Addison Eells had two hits and an RBI. Kamryn Young chipped in a hit and two RBIs.

Eells got the win in the circle with seven strikeouts and no walks.

There was a short delay in the third inning due to lightning.

Beaver Local is 6-10 and will travel to Cambridge today.

Crestview 8, Newton Falls 1

COLUMBIANA — A day after getting shutout by United, Crestview came back to tame Newton Falls 8-1 on Friday.

Crestview is 7-7 and is set to play at Springfield today.

Brenna Figley had three hits including a double for the winners. Chloe Stoops added three hits and two RBIs. Brooke Brubaker had a double and single with three RBIs. Eme Cook had a triple and two RBIs. Trystin Nelson had a double.

Ellie Ricketts was the winning pitcher with 14 strikeouts.

Leetonia 17, Chaney 10

YOUNGSTOWN — Leetonia recorded 26 hits in a 17-10 rout of Chaney on Friday.

Kaitlin Shingler had two triples two singles and four RBIs for the winners. Kaitlyn Callahan added four hits and two RBIs. Kayla Kaminski and Morgan Mertzweiller had triples. Maddie Holisky and Payton Gray had doubles.

Kaminski got the win with four strikeouts and six walks in five innings.

Leetonia is 2-10.

Springfield 4, East Palestine 2

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Springfield’s softball team was able to tame East Palestine 4-2 on Friday.

Gabby Andre, Leila Martin and Alexus Robb had hits for East Palestine.

Andrew was the losing pitcher with four strikeouts and five walks in six innings.

East Palestine is scheduled to host Salem today weather permitting.

Bridgeport 9, East Liverpool 6

BRIDGEPORT — Bridgeport defeated East Liverpool 9-6 on Friday in softball action.

East Liverpool hosts Toronto in a doubleheader today.

Oak Glen 3, Steubenville 2

STEUBENVILLE — Oak Glen won its 11th straight by topping Steubenville 3-2 on Friday.

Sarah Brown posted a triple, single and RBI for the winners, 17-8. Lizzie Kell had a double and RBI and also was the winning pitcher with 16 strikeouts and no walks.

Oak Glen hosts Morgantown on Monday.

Wellsville 23, East Liverpool Christian 0

WELLSVILLE — Wellsville’s softball team bested East Liverpool Christian 23-0 on Thursday.

Kaylee Dawson had a no-hitter with four strikeouts.

Elaina Weekley had a grand slam with three singles. Dawson had two singles as did Isabella Vallera.
