The Morning Journal welcomes readers’ contributions for inclusion in the Letters to the Editor column. All letters must be signed (a typewritten name will not suffice) and must include a full address and telephone number for verification. Letters should be typewritten and be 500 words or less. Handwritten letters of 25 words or less may be considered if the handwriting is legible. Longer letters, however, must be typewritten. The right direction

Editor: As a parent myself, I know how hard it is to raise children in this day and age and in this area. I had lots of anxiety raising a family of six rambunctious boys. I had to ask some very important questions. What kind of adults will they become? Will they be ready to face the challenges in life after high school? Would they become responsible, reliable and respectful members of society? Stonemetz golf may be at an end

Editor: Twenty years ago, Jerry Bailey and Dale Snyder talked about doing something to help East Palestine Social Concern raise money. In 1998, the Stonemetz Golf Outing was started. In 2014, Dale passed away and Jerry continued the project, with some help from George Montgomery. Jerry made all of the contacts for donations and hole sponsors. He spent several months getting everything ready. Over 20 years, the Stonemetz raised $114,107 for the needy of East Palestine. Questioning medical marijuana

Editor: In the past weeks, we have read several articles in the local newspapers as well as others within the region that individuals are looking to develop a medical marijuana cultivation facility or agricultural area within the Salem and/or surrounding areas. Editor: In 1962, President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, through a joint resolution of Congress, established Peace Officers Memorial Day, beginning May 15, 1963. He also established May 15 of each year and the calendar week May 15 occurs as National Police Week. May 15 is a vitally important day for law enforcement officers, which honors and remembers police officers who died in the line of duty.
