To city of Columbiana -- if you were not aware, your appointed and some of your elected officials have determined that you are not capable of rational thought, now it seems that the location to which you choose to plant a garden is something that is worthy of government intrusion.
This city has thrived and prospered before this new draconian zoning mindset that the city now seems to favor, and we will continue to thrive after it.
We live in a great city full of many different types of individuals, now it seems is the time for us all to get involved and remind those in power that we have been fine all this time and we do not need them to decide for us what is best.
This conversation needs to take place in person. On June 13 there is a public hearing at city hall to discuss this proposed ordinance that would spell out for you where in your yard you may have plants If you value personal freedom, attend, speak up, let all know that there is no place for a governing body in these matters, This town is not a homeowners association, nor should it be governed as such.
Do not misunderstand me, there is a need for zoning, but this is not that place. I have heard the planning commission as well as council use the term precedence in regard to various ideas that citizens have proposed when they have voted to not allow them to pursue whichever avenue they were attempting, now we as a city need to remind those in power that precedence is a two-way street. Show up at 6:45 p.m. June 13 at city hall to tell them you vote no on this attempted intrusion on freedom.
