To the editor: Perhaps you have seen the black and white signs posted on the grounds of St. Patrick Church in Leetonia: Racism is a Sin. Period. These were created by the Dominican Sisters of Peace, the Catholic religious community to which we belong. A different kind of COVID-19 impact

To the editor: I know for many people this subject doesn't cross their mind. But for myself it is on my mind every day. I watch the US news and the Canadian news to see if their has been any word on the border opening. I live in Lisbon (Guilford Lake) and my fiancee' lives in Windsor, Ontario which is four hours from here. I haven’t been able to him in person since March 15. To the editor: I have been thinking about all the things that have happened in the last four months. The virus and all the new words I have learned like "virtual," "stay at home," "the new normal," and so many others. What has gotten into us? We have protests for almost anything. Standing behind a family that has stood up for animals

To the editor: My first contact with Alchemy Acres Animal Sanctuary (AAAS) was after I bought my first house and wanted my very own first dog. I called to make an appointment and when I went in the girl working spent quite a few hours trying to find us the right one. “Romeo” ended up being the best dog I’ve ever had and one I’ve never been able to replace. He had been dropped off at AAAS as a puppy. He was adopted and then brought back after a year. He had spent another year at the shelter by the time I got him. No easy way to honor public figures

To the editor: I want to say something that I haven’t seen articulated on social media. I admit I have been a proponent of removing monuments celebrating the Confederacy for a long time, and I am happy that people are finally recognizing the role these monuments have played intimidating many Americans. Thankful for reopening of Firestone Pool

To the editor: Thank you for opening Firestone Pool for the 2020 season. It’s wonderful to know that the residents of Columbiana have a place to go swimming this summer. Decisions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic have ruined so many things this year. However, those tasked with the decision of whether or not to open Firestone Pool did not allow the coronavirus to deter them. This speaks volumes about those individuals, as well as the people operating the pool over the summer.
