Men’s Rally in the Valley spirit lives on

To the editor: Greetings from Men of Faith. If you are familiar with the Men’s Rally in the Valley you know that we suffered a devastating blow just three months prior to the last Rally. The loss of our President, Bing Newton, put the whole organization into a tail spin. As an organization we were in conflict. “But God” the theme for the 2022 Rally took on a whole new meaning for those of us who depended on Bing’s direction. Community members fighting proposed solar project

To the editor: We in Franklin Township are, involuntarily, in the fight for our livelihood and way of life. A massive industrial-sized solar project is threatening to engulf 2,264 acres of our beautiful township. Three non-resident landowners (and one landowner with no panels planned near their residence) have signed 35-year leases with a Canadian company to occupy farmland with solar panels. Congrats to the Columbiana County voters

To the editor: I would like to congratulate Columbiana County voters. According to unofficial results from the Ohio Secretary of State, the August 2 special primary had very low voter turnout across the state, only 7.93%.  Columbiana County was 1 of only 14 counties with 10% or greater voter turnout. Neighboring counties, Mahoning and Stark had 9.08% and 5.69%, respectively. To the editor: “Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve.” You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You only need a big heart. I would like to encourage our youth, our younger generations, the Millennials, and Gen Zers, to step up and serve your community. Whether it’’s helping out at the Banquet of Salem, mowing and trimming the hedges at church, or helping a neighbor out. Why not support a chicken petition?

To the editor: As reported on June 13, 2020 in the Morning Journal, the Lisbon Village Council voted 6-0 to keep the law banning the harboring of livestock and chickens within the Village limits intact. This action was taken after a community member provided them with a petition signed by 21 individuals requesting chickens to be allowed. Here we are in 2022 and a majority of our Village Council members that denied the petition in 2020 are now voting to allow chickens. They aren’t doing this based on any petition from supporters of lifting the ban but based on a few requests over ...
