George W. (Bill) Schneidmiller
HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. — Bill Schneidmiller passed away on January 17, 2022, in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Bill was born October 18, 1930, in East Liverpool, Ohio to Henry and Christine (Hetzel) Schneidmiller. He spoke often of his love and deep appreciation for his large Lutheran family. He grew up enjoying the presence of seven other siblings, and was grateful for his close relationship with each of them.
Bill married Patricia (Pat) Reed Schneidmiller in February of 1952. Their love story deeply blessed them both and endured for 58 years. They had three children: Mark, Lynn and Leanne. The family moved from Ohio in the early 1960s to Nevada and then to Southern California where Bill worked for the Auto Club of Southern California, until his retirement in 1990. During these years, Bill enjoyed being a referee at high school basketball games. He also organized a bowling league, golf league and a volleyball league for his many friends and colleagues. From the time he was a child, Bill loved and excelled in sports. In his early 20s he signed with the St. Louis Cardinals Organization where he played for four years.
After his retirement from the Auto Club, he and Pat moved back to Ohio where they enjoyed many more years together with dear family and friends. Even after retirement, his love for sports/games continued as he was always up for a game of cards, four square, lawn darts, bocce ball, etc. and years of countless rounds of golf.
Sadly, Bill lost Pat in 2010, and Lynn in 2019. He is survived by his son, Mark Schneidmiller, and daughter, Leanne Christensen, five grandchildren (Heather Chase, Hillari Carringer, Sara Lucaelo, Carly Christensen, Joel Schneidmiller) and two great-grandchildren (Rocco Agostini and Roman Agostini) all of whom are grateful for the unconditional love, faith in God, kindness, and laughter Bill shared with them throughout their lives. Although he will be greatly missed, he will remain in their hearts and in their cherished memories–always.
