Martha Alberta Reight

Martha was born on March 22, 1923 in Salineville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Hugh and Ethel Clark Smith.

Martha lived all her life in this area, graduated high school in 1941, and was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Salineville, OH. She was a bus driver for over 35 years and drove for many school districts. Some of them were Wellsville, Beaver Local, Ravenna and Southern Local. Martha was a high-spirited lady who enjoyed cooking and baking. She was the pie winner at the Salineville Salt Festival. She loved playing cards anywhere and anytime. She had a great sense of humor and was a friend to all. She loved her family and made sure they all had their favorite goodies when they came to visit. She made sure anyone who came to visit left with a full stomach. She helped cook at many of the church functions and was well known for her pies. She made the best brownies ever!

She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Judy (Roger) Enoch of Edinburg, OH, Janet (Dick) Kerr of Salineville, OH, Beverly Doorly of Carlisle, PA; one son, Scott (Tina) Reight of Edinburg, OH; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren two great-great-grandchildren; and many many friends.

Besides her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband Russell Reight whom she married February 7, 1942; three brothers, Lloyd Smith, Paul Smith, William Smith; two sisters, Laura Williams, and Dorothy Boals; one daughter, Jeanie Robeson and one son-in-law Thomas Doorly.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family service was held on Tuesday January, 5, 2021 with Pastor Tom Allmon officiating at the Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home in Salineville, OH.

Burial was in Columbiana County Memorial Park Cemetery in Calcutta, OH.

A celebration of Martha’s life will be held at a later date.

The family suggest memorial contributions in Martha’s name be made to the Salineville Kiwanis, P.O. Box 85, Salineville, OH 4345.
