Leetonia

— A female Washington Street resident reported at 2:54 p.m. Feb. 9 that her vehicle was damaged on the passenger side and rear tailgate while parked in a private drive.

— An Alliance man allegedly directed threats toward his girlfriend’s parents, who reside on Ridge Street, sometime before 3:20 p.m. Feb. 9.

— The babysitter for two children in the 100 block of Park Avenue contacted police regarding a custody issue at 4:15 p.m. Feb. 9, after the children’s father and his wife arrived at her residence to allegedly retrieve the children in violation of a custody order. Not only was this not one of the prearranged days but the wife was not permitted to be present during a custody exchange. Both parties were advised this was a civil matter and appropriate for their attorneys to handle.The children remained in custody of their grandmother.

— An officer provided an assist to the fire department, responding at 5:18 p.m. Feb. 9 to the first block of Main Street for a burning smell.

— Police investigated a loose dog complaint at 4:31 p.m. Feb. 10 in the 100 block of Elm Street. The golden lab was identified as belonging to her neighbor and returned home.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive at 6:32 p.m. Tuesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that their ex-girlfriend was accessing his emails and would not stop contacting him. He also advised that he had also filed a report with the East Palestine Police Department for her getting into his bank account due to her living in their jurisdiction. Officers advised the caller that they would contact her and advised her to stop and also advised him to contact them if they continued.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 6:08 p.m. Tuesday for a report of someone experiencing a possible mental health crisis. The fire department and EMT responded and the woman in question was transported to an appropriate medical facility for further evaluation.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of East Third Street at 5:04 p.m. Tuesday for a reported reckless operator. The caller advised that a vehicle had pulled out in front of them and was slamming the brakes. Officers located the vehicle and advised the driver of the dangers of deliberately brake checking a vehicle that was following behind.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Sixth Street at 5:04 p.m. Tuesday to assist the fire department in unlocking a residence of a woman who fell and couldn’t reach the door. Officers stood by while firefighters opened the door and the woman was taken to the hospital by EMT.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of East Fifth Street at 4:34 p.m. Tuesday for a reported child custody dispute. Both parties had paperwork contradicting the other side’s and officers advised both parties to contact their lawyers and get the proper paperwork.

— The school resource officer was advised by school administrators of an incident that occurred at the high school at 12:56 p.m. Tuesday. They advised that they had investigated the incident and one of the students had been disciplined by the school, but one of the parents was not satisfied by the outcome and requested a police report be filed on the issue.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Pershing Street at 10:53 a.m. Tuesday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke with multiple people in the area, but none had called 911. Officers did not observe anything out of the ordinary.

Perry Township

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Plymouth Place at 7:37 a.m. Sunday for a report of a possible water leak. Officers located a suspected leak, and the Salem Water Department was notified.

— Officers on patrol in the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:02 a.m. Sunday located a vehicle off the side of the roadway. The car was producing a large amount of smoke attempting to get unstuck. Officers later found that the driver Amber Burkey, 36, Deerfield, was impaired, and she was cited for OVI and failure to maintain control.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Country Club Lane at 4:52 p.m. Friday for a reported injured deer. The deer was euthanized.

— Officers responded to Snyder Road near Depot Road at 3:36 p.m. Friday for a reported vehicle off the roadway. Officers found that the driver was attempting to extricate the vehicle from the ditch, causing more damage to the property. Kaiser’s Towing responded and removed the vehicle, and officers requested the Ohio State Highway Patrol to respond and conduct sobriety testing on the driver, Kevin Burkholder, Salem, who was uncooperative and confrontational during the process. No signs of impairment were observed, and Burkholder was cited for reasonable control.

— Officers responded to the 1600 block of state Route 344 at 11:04 a.m. Friday for a wellness check. Officers responded to the person in question’s residence but could not contact anyone.

— Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle belonging to a wanted person on Georgetown Road at 1:43 a.m. Friday. The driver, James Moore, was taken into custody and turned over to a Smith Township officer.

Liverpool Township

— Scott Shreve, 37, address not provided, was placed under arrest for outstanding warrants on Jan. 27 after a Price Street resident reported a male inside a vehicle parked in front of his residence for several hours and requested an officer to come check on him. Upon the officer’s arrival he identified the male and found out he had warrants. The vehicle was towed by First Class Towing.

— An unnamed male was issued a citation and a court date for failure to control after officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Jan. 27 on Anderson Street. One of the parties involved was transported to ELCH by Lifetime after reporting stiffness and pain in his neck, back and legs. The male had been shoveling snow from around his vehicle When the driver of the other vehicle hit his truck and knocked him over.

— Richard Dowling was issued a citation and court date for a marked lanes violation following a Feb. 2 traffic stop on Payne Road. He was also issued a verbal warning for an expired sticker.
