— Officers spoke to a property owner who was also the vehicle owner after receiving a call of a vehicle crashing into an Oak Street yard on Jan. 2. The owner told officers that she went to pull into the parking lot when the truck slid over the embankment into her yard.

— After being notified on Jan. 2 by a female that her brother and another individual were coming to her Avondale Street residence to get a pipe bomb that was left in her basement, officers and the fire department arrived at the residence and evacuated the building occupants while they searched the basement, where they found no pipe bombs or any other types of IEDs. The residence was deemed safe, and residents were allowed to return.

— Officers investigating an alarm at a location on Broadway Street found a side door unlocked and contacted a keyholder who came and secured the door on Jan. 2

— Officers searched the area of Moore Street on Jan. 2 after receiving a complaint about a dirt bike being operated on the roadway.

— Officers advised a male who called on Jan. 2 to say he and his wife were going through a divorce and his wife was trying to take their child from the Thompson Avenue residence, that with them still being legally married and no child custody order in place, that this would be a civil matter. The officer checked on the well-being of the child at the residence and found the child to be fine and the residence clean. The wife was told by officers to leave the residence as she no longer lived there.

— Officers filed a burglary report for the property owner of a house on Monaca Street which has been sitting empty due to a flood. The owner told police she went to the house on Jan. 2 to get some items when she noticed things missing such as three TVs and an air compressor paint system, an electric heater, a large stereo with three speakers and two totes of Blu-ray CDs.

— An officer searched on area of state Route 39 on Jan. 2 for a car reported to be driving on the wrong side of the highway.

— Lorrie Cook, age and address not provided, was issued a verbal warning for a stop sign violation following a Jan. 2 traffic stop on Thompson Avenue. The passenger, David Sparks, 32, address not provided, was found to have an active warrant and taken into custody.

— Officers arrived at a St. Clair Avenue location along with the fire department medical personnel who treated a choking female on Jan. 2.

— Officers searched the area of Northside Street on Jan. 2 for a female and a little girl who a caller said he gave a ride to so they weren’t in the cold. He told officers the female said the little girl, who looked like a child with a deformed face, was her girlfriend.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 11:33 p.m. Monday for a reported medical call. Officers stood by until the person was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center.

— Bernice Frederick, 51, Youngstown, was cited for driving under suspension and fictitious plates during a traffic stop in the 1000 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 10:21 p.m. Monday.

— Officers responded to the 1500 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 6:57 p.m. Monday for a reported hit and skip. The caller advised that a vehicle had struck his mailbox, and it was no longer there. Officers took photos of the damage, and a neighbor advised that a gray SUV had struck the mailbox at around 3 p.m. on Sunday. Officers were then able to find footage of the accident on the city’s Flock cameras and obtain the vehicle’s registration. Officers will be in contact with the driver.

— Officers on patrol in the area of South Broadway Avenue and East Pershing Street observed an elderly person walking with a walker in the middle of the street at 6:35 p.m. Monday. Officers spoke with the person and helped them to the sidewalk.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Lundy Avenue at 5:50 p.m. Monday for a parking complaint. The caller advised that a vehicle had been parked in a private parking lot since Friday and appeared suspicious. Officers advised the caller of their options.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 5:49 p.m. Monday to assist Perry Township officers. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 3:45 p.m. Monday for a reported domestic dispute. The caller advised that the mother of his child started a verbal altercation with him and had made “unnecessary comments” and that they wanted a report on file because they were going to court for visitation rights. The caller was provided with a report number.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 1:45 p.m. Monday to speak with a woman who had questions about a case being investigated. Officers provided them with the information needed.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Summit Street at 1:21 p.m. Monday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the woman, who was fine, and advised them of the complaint.

— Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Summit Street at 11:50 a.m. Monday. The driver Suzette Mestre, Campbell, was cited for speeding and no operator’s license, and the vehicle was removed by Kaiser Towing.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Eighth Street at 8:39 a.m. Monday for a report of a person having a possible mental health crisis. The fire department and EMT responded to assess the person in question, and they were transported to an appropriate medical facility for further evaluation.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive at 8:46 p.m. Tuesday for a report of people allegedly conducting witchcraft outside the caller’s residence. Officers were unable to locate anyone outside the residence.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fourth Street at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday for a parking complaint. The caller advised that a vehicle was parked in the alley, and he could not get into his garage. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 6:23 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the juvenile in question and their guardian and determined everything was okay.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Maple Street at 6:11 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. Due to having no address, officers attempted contact at an address that was believed to be correct but was not.

— Officers responded to the area of Penn Avenue at 3:26 p.m. Tuesday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that a group of juveniles looked as though they were about to engage in a physical fight. Officers located two of the juveniles and discovered there was no physical violence, just a verbal altercation. All juveniles were separated.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of West Wilson Street at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday for a reported child custody dispute. The caller advised that their child did not want to go with the father and wanted a report on file if the father were to cause issues over the child staying with her. Officers advised the caller to speak with the courts on the matter and provided them with a report number.

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 11:43 a.m. Tuesday for a reported reckless operator. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, observing no indications of impairment and issued the driver a warning.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 6:49 a.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that an unknown person was knocking on their door dressed as a police officer. Further investigation found that the person was a uniformed sheriff’s deputy attempting to serve court papers.

— Officers gave a person who came to the police department a ride to their residence on South Lincoln Avenue at 1:23 a.m. Thursday due to weather conditions.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 8:06 p.m. Wednesday for a possible dispute. The caller advised that a man and woman were yelling at teach other somewhere near the street but couldn’t see them or provide a direction of travel. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate anyone.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Park Drive at 4:41 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers were able to speak with the person in question who advised they were OK and were out of town.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Seventh Street at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday for a report of an illegally parked vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in question and placed a 48-hour tow notice on it.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Ninth Street at 2:29 p.m. Wednesday for a reported scam. The caller advised that someone unknown to them had taken $115 from their account without their knowledge or permission. Officers advised them of some options for dealing with the situation,

— Officers responded with the fire department to the 1000 block of Jennings Avenue at 1:22 p.m. Wednesday for a medical call. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 9:47 a.m. Wednesday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that “a few days ago” her neighbor was looking through her front window. Officers spoke with the neighbors who denied the allegation.
