— Suspicious activity and unreasonable noise allegedly caused by neighbors was reported at 3:38 a.m. Saturday in the area of Roberts Road, Fairfield Township. Deputies checked the area and didn’t hear any noise and made contact with the caller, advising there was no noise heard. The caller then advised he could still hear the noise. Deputies asked if he needed medical treatment, but he denied needing medical assistance.
— A caller from Hanover Township at 1:47 a.m. Saturday reported her ex-boyfriend and father of her child is harassing her by calling for welfare checks on their child and sending police to her home. She said he was also sending concerning messages. The prior reports have been linked to this report, with the caller given information on how to proceed.
— A 911 hangup call was reported at 12:06 a.m. Saturday on North Street, Salineville. Contact was made with the residents and all advised they did not call. The phone number that called was not known to the residents. All persons at the residence appeared fine.
— Deputies were dispatched at 10:44 p.m. Friday to Boston Street, Salem Township, for an unknown disturbance. A woman advised her 12-year-old daughter was not listening to her over her cell phone. The father of the girl arrived and his daughter went with him for the night.
— A deputy was dispatched at 9:36 p.m. Friday to Randel Road, Hanoverton for a domestic violence report. Joseph R. Abram, 31, Randel Road, Hanoverton, was charged with domestic violence and transported to the county jail. He already appeared in Columbiana County Municipal Court on Monday, with a pretrial set for Jan. 21.
— A welfare check was requested at 8:22 p.m. Friday on Harijune Circle, West Township. A deputy spoke with the person and family, who advised the person was fine and does not have mental health issues.
— A Canfield man at 6:27 p.m. Friday requested a welfare check on his 6-year-old son who is living with his mother in Hanover Township. He reported she was refusing to let him talk to his son by phone. A deputy responded and observed the child to be fine.
— A resident on Mohican Trail, Middleton Township reported at 5:35 p.m. Friday that someone posted inappropriate pictures of her on Instagram, from an unknown user. The resident was advised to contact the administrator of Instagram.
— A man on Glasgow Road, Wayne Township, reported at 3:31 p.m. Friday that he believed he was a victim of identity theft. He spoke with his bank and was advised to file a report.
— A deputy was dispatched at 3:17 p.m. Friday to a residence on Speidel Road, Hanover Township, to check the welfare of a juvenile walking toward the residence and upset. A deputy spoke to the resident at the home and he advised he was the only one home and everything was fine.
— An unknown disturbance was reported at 2:44 p.m. Friday at the football field at Southern Local, state Route 39, Washington Township, but while a deputy was en route, dispatch spoke to the school resource officer and learned it was a misunderstanding and there was no problem.
— A man on Y Camp Road, Madison Township, reported at 2:03 p.m. Friday that he needed a report per his bank, saying he sent a check in the mail from his residence for $300 to Capital One and someone changed the amount to $4,430 and cashed it.
— A deputy at 2:35 p.m. Friday spoke with a person from Macklin Road, Unity Township, who was having mental health issues. He was told to contact his doctor.
— A woman on state Route 14, Unity Township, reported at 12:17 p.m. Friday that the windshield of her 2010 Chevy Silverado was damaged while parked in the driveway overnight.
— A Malvern woman reported at 11:47 a.m. Friday that she went to her deceased son’s residence on U.S. Route 30 in Hanover Township on Jan. 8 and found his drum set missing. She said all doors and windows were secured, but it appeared someone may have gained entry through the back door due to marks on the door.
— A woman on state Route 45, Center Township, reported at 10:56 p.m. Jan. 8 that she was hearing loud noises outside her residence, but did not want a deputy to respond until she figured out where the noises were coming from.
Salem
— Officers responded to the area of North Howard Avenue at 2:32 a.m. Monday for a trespass complaint. The caller advised that they did not want their wife’s friend present while gathering belongings out of a storage unit. Both the caller and the person in question departed prior to officers’ arrival.
— Officers observed a person on the hood of a vehicle pulling into the police department parking lot at 1:25 a.m. Monday. After separating both parties and verifying there were no injuries, it was found to be a dispute between a married couple over property. Both parties went their separate ways for the night as it was ultimately a civil matter and were advised to call if anything further was needed.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Fair Avenue at 10:15 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question, who appeared to be okay.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 6:50 p.m. Sunday for a reported civil custody issue. Officers explained their options.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Seventh Street at 5:49 p.m. Sunday for a reported trespass complaint. The caller advised that there was someone in a vacant house. Officers located a door propped open and a few lights on inside. After announcing themselves several times with no response, officers secured the door as it is unclear if the home is actually vacant.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 4:16 p.m. Sunday for a report of suspicious activity. Officers were advised that a person had an extension cord from his window to the basement. Officers spoke with the person in question, who advised that they would remove the cord. Officers requested that the housing department be notified of the issue.
— Officers on patrol in the 1800 block of East Third Street at 2:04 p.m. Sunday observed a vehicle parked partially in the roadway. Officers spoke with a resident and advised them of the issue.
— Officers responded to the area of Franklin Avenue at 12:41 p.m. Sunday for a report of a large pothole in the roadway. Officers were able to fill it in, and a message was left for the road department to check it during the week.
–Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 12:19 p.m. Sunday regarding an incident which occurred in the 800 block of West State Street. Officers provided them with their options for dealing with the situation
–Officers responded to the 100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 10:37 a.m. Sunday for a reported private property accident. The caller advised that they were out of their truck securing a vehicle to the flatbed when a vehicle backed into his truck. They further advised that there was no damage to their vehicle and that the other driver had stated they were not concerned and left the area. No information was available for the other vehicle, and the caller just wanted the incident documented.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Perry Street at 12:22 a.m. Sunday for a reported noise complaint. The caller advised that there was a loud banging somewhere in the area. Officers located the source of the noise to be a neighbor working on their vehicle. The neighbor advised they would stop for the night.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of West Wilson Street at 7:13 p.m. Saturday for a report of phone harassment. The caller advised that another juvenile living in the same home had been threatening him over the phone. After speaking with both juveniles’ officers determined that they had been arguing back and forth over social media, and both had already blocked each other. All parents were advised of the issues, and officers are waiting for possible snap shots of text messages between the two, but none have been provided.
— Officers responded to the railroad crossing on South Ellsworth Avenue at 6:55 p.m. Saturday for a report of a malfunctioning gate. Officers confirmed that the gate was malfunctioning, and the rail company was notified.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Fifth Street at 5:51 p.m. Saturday for a report of a loud explosion heard in the area. Officers searched the area and located Ohio Edison handling a power outage from a transformer blowing.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Second Street at 4:52 p.m. Saturday for a reported suspicious person. Officers located the person in question and advised them of the complaint, and they left the area.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Fourth Street at 12:24 p.m. Saturday for a report of criminal damage to a vehicle. The caller advised that someone unknown to them had damaged the passenger side rear window of his vehicle while it was parked at the residence. Officers provided the caller with their options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West State Street at 12:16 p.m. Saturday for a report of possible drug paraphernalia. The caller advised that they found a syringe on the sidewalk and wanted to turn it over to the police department. Officers took the syringe to be properly disposed of at the police department.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Whinnery Road at 9:41 a.m. Saturday for a reported juvenile problem. Officers spoke with the involved parties and found that the juvenile had gotten upset and was refusing to follow his parents’ rules.
— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 9:11 a.m. Saturday to assist Perry Township officers. While en route officers were advised that a person, whose name was not listed, had fled from them. Officers assisted in locating and detaining the person. The person was transported to the Salem hospital, and officers stood by while Perry Township officers completed an evaluation form.
