— An East Eighth Street resident reported at 5:40 p.m. Sunday his credit card had been used to purchase a Macbook and a $200 gift card. An investigation is pending.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 4:25 p.m. Saturday where a juvenile reported receiving menacing text messages. Following an investigation, officers took into custody the juvenile who had sent the messages.
— Tyler L. Cox, 23, Lisbon, was charged with theft after allegedly failed to pay for $61.39 in merchandise at a 2800 block East State Street business at 1:47 p.m. Saturday.
— Bryan K. Dilling, 53, Lisbon, was charged with receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony, and misdemeanors of drug abuse instrument and drug paraphernalia; and Crystal R. Hoskinson, 34, Salem, was charged with receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony, and misdemeanor of drug paraphernalia after officers stopped their vehicle for a registration violation in the 400 block of East Fifth Street at 7:37 p.m. Friday and found the registration sticker on the license plate to be stolen. A K-9 officer also alerted to the presence of a narcotic odor and a search of the vehicle revealed contraband.
— Sai Siva Vara P. Aratipamula, 25, Youngstown, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash on East State Street at Cunningham Road at 4:55 p.m. Friday in which he was traveling west and failed to stop for traffic at the light, striking the rear of a vehicle driven by Shirlee Rae Jarrett, 71, Salineville. Jarrett suffered possible injuries.
— A North Ellsworth Avenue resident reported at 11:46 a.m. Friday a family member was driving against doctor’s orders. The resident was advised to have the doctor send the proper paperwork to the state to have the license revoked.
— Officers responded with the fire department and EMT to the 1400 block of Ridgewood Drive at 4:21 a.m. Tuesday for a reported medical call. Officers stood by until medical personnel were finished on scene.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Homewood Avenue at 3:41 a.m. Tuesday for a reported animal complaint. The caller advised that there was a raccoon in their house. Officers were able to remove the raccoon without incident.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Third Street at 12:08 a.m. Tuesday for a reported warrant check. Officers were unable to contact the person in question.
— Officers on patrol in the area of South Ellsworth Avenue at 10:38 p.m. Monday observed a woman with an active warrant out of Columbiana County. Officers conducted a traffic stop on their vehicle and took the woman, Krista Gallite, 38, Salem into custody and transported them to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Ridgewood Drive at 9:44 p.m. Monday for a wellness check. The caller advised that they were getting emails from a person making comments about self-harm. Officers spoke with them, and they advised that they were okay and just fighting with his brother.
— Officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 7:31 p.m. Monday for a reported stolen license plate. The caller advised they got their car washed and after dinner found the plate to be missing. Officers checked the car wash and located the plate on the ground. The plate was returned to the caller.
— Kevin Douglas, 31, Alliance, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his eastbound vehicle on West State Street struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Gerald Smith, 70, Salem, at 5:20 p.m. Monday.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Third Street at 4:18 p.m. Monday for a report of recovered property. The caller advised that there was an unknown man living next to their apartment building and all their luggage was on the property. The caller advised that the man left earlier in the day and hadn’t been back. Officers advised the caller to call back when the man returns.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Vine Avenue at 3:56 p.m. Monday for a reported animal complaint. The caller advised that there was a dog in a vehicle alone for more than an hour. Officers located the vehicle, and the dog was not in distress.
— Officers responded to the area of Penn Avenue and Columbia Street at 2:09 p.m. Monday for a wellness check on an elderly man who had been reported as walking around and seeming to be confused. Officers located the man and found that he needed directions and pointed him in the right direction.
— Officers responded with the housing officers to the 500 block of Granite Avenue at 1:29 p.m. Monday for a reported person to be removed. Officers spoke with a woman who was advised previously that the residence is condemned, and nobody is allowed inside. The housing officer advised them that they have until tomorrow night to have their property removed from the residence, or she will be charged with criminal trespassing.
— The school resource officer was advised of an issue with a student at the school at 9:59 a.m. Monday. The fire department and EMT responded, and the student was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital-Boardman.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Union Avenue at 9:33 a.m. Monday to speak with the parent of a juvenile for the school resource officer. The juvenile in question had been having behavioral issues. After speaking with the parent they responded to the school.
