Police

County Sheriff

— Responding to an alarm at a home on Buck Road, Knox Township, a 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, deputies checked around the home, but found no footprints in the snow and the doors and windows secure.

— Deputies assisted children services in the removal of three children from a Sunset Drive home in Yellow Creek Township at 2:07 p.m. Wednesday. A woman living at the home, 31-year-old Kelly M. Reed, had a warrant and was taken to the county jail.

— A Kensington woman reported at 1:47 p.m. Tuesday she had purchased an iPhone from a website “Swappa” for $600. The transaction went smoothly and the package was delivered, but she believes someone took the package from the mailbox and she did not receive it.

— Deputies checked on a Tomahawk Drive, Middleton Township, woman at 3:19 a.m. Wednesday, who reported hearing someone tapping on her living room and bedroom windows. Deputies found no one in the area and checked inside the home as well.

— A private property accident was reported at a Tomahawk Drive, Middleton Township, property at 4:26 p.m. Thursday. Deputies spoke to both vehicle owners, who exchanged information.

Highway Patrol

— Stephan Westover, 30, Rogers, was cited with failure to control, OVI, driving under suspension and driver restraining device at 11:00 p.m. Tuesday. Westover went off the road on state Route 154 in Elkrun Township and overturned. The vehicle was found abandoned and had been reported stolen through the county sheriff’s department. A state trooper was able to locate and arrest Westover.

— Beverly A. Nichols, 79, Alliance, was cited for failure to control after she went off the road on Georgetown Road in Knox Township and struck a mailbox, gas meter and utility pole at 4:10 p.m. Jan. 31.

— Jason A. Sisco, 49, East Rochester, was cited with left of center after traveled over the center line and struck an ODOT plow on state Route 9 in Hanoverton at 6:20 p.m. Jan. 31.

— Ryan A. Kosek, 41, New Springfield, was cited with marked lanes and distracted driving after he went off the road and struck a mailbox on state Route 165 in Unity Township at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday. Kosek sustained a possible injury.

— Stacey R. Schiavoni, 46, Salineville, and Aaron M. Board, 20, Lisbon, were traveling in opposite directions on Osbourne Road in Madison Township when they struck mirrors at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday. No citations was issued due to conflicting stories.

— James L. Freeman, 80, Columbiana, and Ted L. Ingledue, 52, Salem, were traveling in opposite directions on Butcher Road in Salem Township when they struck mirrors at 2:19 p.m. Wednesday. No citations were issued due to the snow and the lane width.

— Caden P. Doran, 17, New Waterford, was cited with failure to control after he went off the road and overturned while traveling on state Route 517 in Center Township at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday.

— Blake C. Hilbon, 18, Struthers, was cited for failure to control after he lost control and overturned on state Route 165 in Unity Township at 7:26 a.m. Jan. 29. Hilbon sustained suspected minor injuries.

Columbiana

— An officer spoke with a husband regarding his wife using his car at 1:14 a.m. Thursday on Market Street.

— K-9 Bax assisted Washingtonville police on a traffic stop in their jurisdiction at 9:12 p.m. Thursday.

Salem

— An open burning complaint was reported at 9:04 p.m. Thursday in the 1800 block of Cleveland Street where a woman said they were putting the fire out. Firefighters advised what can and can’t be burned.

— Police were called at 7:54 p.m. Thursday to the 100 block of Woodland Avenue for a parking complaint. Officers located a vehicle parked in the street with a note saying the vehicle broke down and a tow truck was being contacted.

— Justin Cosma, 47, of West Pidgeon Road, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 6:24 p.m. Thursday on East State Street near Vine Avenue. K-9 Simon indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor and contraband was discovered in the vehicle and on the driver. The owner of the vehicle, Monica Cosma, 44, also of West Pidgeon Road, was cited for wrongful entrustment.

— Cortni Rankin, 30, whose last known address was Cricket Lane, Columbiana, was taken into custody on a warrant for possession of drugs after police were called at 2:59 p.m. Thursday to Holiday Inn Express on North Cunningham Road for a person to be removed. Both people on scene were advised they were no longer welcome on the property and were trespassed.

— Police were called at 12:19 p.m. Thursday to Holiday Inn Express in the 200 block of North Cunningham Road to recover possible drug paraphernalia. The manager advised customers had checked out of their rooms and cleaning staff found what they believed to be narcotics. Officers recovered the possible narcotics material and said a report would be sent to the Drug Task Force.

— Jacob Bickley, 24, of Walnut Street, was taken into custody on a warrant for disorderly conduct at 8:40 a.m. Thursday at his residence.

— A dispute was reported at 6:45 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Roosevelt Avenue. Officers spoke to two people who said a physical altercation took place, both saying the other struck them, but neither one of them had any marks. They were told they could provide written statements which could be sent for review.

St. Clair Township

— East Liverpool Police requested at 12:09 a.m. Jan. 23 that K9 Noras conduct an open air sift of a vehicle that they stopped on Route 30 east , at 3 p.m. Jan. 25 in the area of the BP station on Dresden Avenue and at 2:13 a.m. Sunday in the first block of McKinnon Avenue. He alerted to probable narcotics and/or paraphernalia both times.

— Shawn M. Cunningham, no address listed, was arrested at 10:11 a.m. Jan. 25 on a theft charge in Busy Beaver, where he allegedly stole 37 items totaling $106.01 and not paying. Although he had a mask on during the incident, the shoplifter was identified as Shawn Cunningham by the store.

— A Simmons Street resident reports that someone charged her debit card for $1537.06 in charges by her bank at 7:46 p.m. Jan. 25.

— Randy A. Martin, was arrested at 2:26 p.m. Jan. 25 on charges of four assault on a police officer, fourth-degree felonies, and single counts of resisting arrest and assaulting a police dog. According to the report, officers responded to the 16000 block of Gipner Avenue for a welfare check on Amanda Ogle. Eventually after failing to gain entry through the doors and windows repeatedly, the homeowner arrived and let the police in. The female was escorted out of the home. Martin, who had a felony warrant, fled officers and barricaded himself in an attic. During officers’ attempts to take him into custody, Martin struck four officers with different objects and K-9 Noras with a large plastic tote as he tried to go up the stairs. Martin repeatedly stated that he had a deadly weapon, which police believed he would use on them. Ogle also was arrested on an unspecified charge in another report, stemming from the incident.

— A Sunset Drive resident reported at 3:53 p.m. Jan. 26 that he was being harassed by a named subject. He didn’t want to press charges, but just to leave him alone. He was advised how to file for a protection order.

— Rachael Taylor, was arrested at 2:28 p.m. Jan. 26 in Walmart for theft, after allegedly failing to scan 18 items totaling $72.74 in the self-checkout.

— Frank Tice, was arrested at 6:41 p.m. Jan. 27 on charges of OVI second offense and failure to maintain an assured clear distance in the intersection of Dresden Avenue and state Route 11 offramp, after e allegedly he was rear ended. Upon contact with Tice, police learned that Tice instead had rear ended Jacob Walgate, and Tice exhibited visible signs of impairment as he was escorted from his vehicle. Tice allegedly admitted to drinking four or five beers. The officer attempted to administer field sobriety tests but stop due to Tice not cooperating. He also later refused a breath test.

— A McDonald Street woman reported at 12:01 p.m. Jan. 27 that an authorized person is using her account.

— K9 Noras and various other county canine teams assisted the county Drug Task Force and Sheriff’s Office on a search warrant in Perry Township.

— A man reported Jan. 29 that his ex-wife ran over his foot with her vehicle during a child exchange at Sheets.

— Jay Hackathorn, was arrested at 9:42 p.m. Monday in Walmart on a theft charge, after he allegedly failed to pay for eight items totaling $65.06 in the self-checkout register.

— Cena Mason, was cited at 9:58 a.m. Jan. 30 in the first block of state Route 267 on a charge of driving under FRA suspension.

— Gloria Lykins (aka Rogenski), was cited at 7:52 p.m. Jan. 30 in the first block of Yeager Drive on charges of driving under FRA suspension and lanes of travel.

— Sydney Felton, was arrested at 11:14 p.m. Jan. 30 near state Route 267 and Yeager Drive on an OVI charge, after she was observed by an officer traveling left of center. Felton also allegedly tested with a .205 BAC.

— Mishelle Gillespie, was arrested at 4:18 p.m. Tuesday in Walmart on a theft charge, after she allegedly failed to pay for 32 items valued at $154.45 in the self-checkout lane.

— A complainant alleged at 11:26 a.m. Wednesday in the 16000 block of Irish Ridge Road that someone opened a fraudulent loan in his name.

— Nagenna Wright, was served at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday in the 15000 block of St. Clair Avenue with warrants out of Columbiana County.

— Thomas Akers, was served at 5:11 p.m. Thursday with a warrant outside Factory Connection, where police were investigating a trespassing complaint.

— Bethany Vandyke, was arrested at 1:03 p.m. Thursday on a theft charge, after allegedly failing to pay for 37 items totaling $220.29 while going through the self-checkout lane at Walmart.

— Brenna Perkins, was arrested at 8:49 p.m. Thursday in the area of state Route 267 for possession of drug paraphernalia, after the vehicle In which she was traveling was stopped for speeding.

East Liverpool

— An officer responded at 4:01 p.m. Thursday to the first block of Walnut Street for a subject reportedly banging on a business door next to Bob and Robin’s. He had negative contact with the subject.

— A woman from the 1400 block of Ceramic Street reported at 3:58 p.m. Thursday that her cat was struck and killed by a pizza delivery driver who did not stop.

Liverpool Township

— Police responded at 3:37 a.m. Jan. 31 to the 800 block of Hollywood Avenue for a property damage complaint.

— An officer arrived shortly after 11:30 p.m. Jan. 31 to the 1900 block of Campground Road for a subject having a stroke at Farr Hill Trailer Park. He was transported by Lifetime to the East Liverpool City Hospital.

— An accident without injuries was reported at 2:18 a.m. Monday in the first block of Campground Road near McClain Road.

— A United Rentals’ work truck had to be towed from the slow lane of state Route 7 northbound due to its having mechanical issues at 5:58 a.m. Monday.

— Dennis L. Long, of West Fourth St., was traveling west on Route 30 when he slid on the snow-covered, icy road and struck the concrete median before traveling across the road and hitting the guardrail at 6:47 p.m. Jan. 31.

— A vehicle driven by James Van Dyke, of Crestview Drive, sustained passenger side damage at 3:24 p.m. Monday, after he slid into a pole while pulling out of his driveway due to sliding in the snow.
