County Sheriff

— Jennifer Christie reported at 12:34 p.m. Friday she parked her vehicle in the east lot at Rogers Sale on state Route 154 in Rogers and walked around the sale and when she returned to her vehicle she noticed a note and that the rear bumper was damaged on the left side. Christie told the deputy she attempted to contact the man who left the note but the line was disconnected.

–A Knox Township woman reported at 1:23 p.m. Friday a woman she knows is harassing her on Facebook and making posts that her boyfriend will rape her daughter. A deputy told the woman to report the communication with Facebook. The woman then told the deputy she wished to sue the other woman for slander. She was then advised to contact an attorney to file a civil case for that matter.

— A woman asked deputies to conduct a welfare check on her boyfriend on Pine Hollow Road in Elkrun Township at 5:20 p.m. Deputies spoke with the man, who said he was fine and had his cell phone turned off and went into the woods to avoid his girlfriend. Deputies told the woman her boyfriend was fine.

— Deputies were called to Metz Road in New Waterford at 5:24 p.m. Friday for a report that a woman was attempting to harm herself. Deputies checked several locations but were unable to fine her. Several hours later deputies were able to make contact with the woman who said that she was fine and was not going to harm herself, and she had only wanted to get away from her boyfriend.

— Deputies were called to a Depot Street, Rogers home at 9:15 p.m. Friday for a report of a domestic. Upon arrival deputies spoke with John Kearns Jr. who said that Ashley Irvin left when she found out he had called the police. Kearns told deputies that Irvin said she was going to call the police and lie to them that he struck her. When deputies spoke with Irvin, she reported that while riding in a vehicle with Kearns at the Rogers Sale she grabbed the shifter and forced it into park, at which point he grabbed her by the back of the head, punched her and pulled her backwards. Kearns said that he pushed Irvin back and put the vehicle back into drive. Irvin refused to press charges and no injuries were found on her. Kearns alleged that Irvin stole a dollar and change from the home, and Irvin said the money was hers. Kearns also told deputies that Irvin stole a cigarette rolling machine, which Irvin also claimed was hers. Deputies told both that due to them living with each other and having control over the property while living together there was no way to determine who the owner of the property is. At 12:26 a.m. Saturday deputies were called back to the home when Irvin reported she was assaulted by Kearns. Kearns, 38, was charged with domestic violence and taken to the county jail.

— Lorrie Malone, state Route 154, Rogers, reported at 9:43 p.m. Friday she parked her 2012 Chevy Tahoe at the Rogers Sale and when she returned she noticed the rear bumper was damaged.

— Someone reported a noise complaint at a West School Street home in East Rochester at 10:15 p.m. Friday. A deputy spoke with Michael and Brittany Dunlap who said they were listening to music and yelling over the music to communicate with each other. Deputies told them to turn the music down. The deputy also spoke with Matthew Ward and told him the same.

— Deputies and the New Waterford police chief were called to a home on state Route 170 in Unity Township at 7:02 p.m. July 8 for a report of a man threatening to kill himself. The man came out of the home and was sent to a hospital for evaluation.

— A Deputy was called to a Timber Run, New Waterford home at 10:21 p.m. Thursday for a report of loud music coming from the home. The deputy spoke with John Seeger who said that he puts radios in street bikes for people and that he had just finished a bike and was testing the radio. The deputy told Seeger it was the second complaint the sheriff’s office has received at that location for music and to keep the radios off at night.

— Ira Sullivan, state Route 644, Washington Township, reported at 5:48 p.m. Thursday he heard his kids in the woods behind his home and they both have warrants out for their arrests. Deputies checked the area but did not locate his children.

— A man asked deputies to conduct a welfare check on his girlfriend on Unity Line Road in Unity Township at 11:12 p.m. July 8. He said that his girlfriend threatened to drive her vehicle into a tree after an argument. Deputies were able to contact the woman who said she was fine.

— A deputy was called to Deer Run Mobile Park on state Route 62 in Butler Township at 2:36 a.m. Wednesday for a report of rapid gunfire in the area. The deputy was unable to locate any people with firearms.

— A deputy was called to the 6800 block of Camp Boulevard in Hanover Township at 6:46 a.m. Friday for a report of a suspicious person. The area was checked and no one was located.

— A deputy was called to Oak Drive in Madison Township at 12:16 a.m. Friday for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The area was checked and nothing was found.

— A deputy was called to a home on state Route 170 in Middleton Township at 4:38 a.m. Friday in reference to a 911 transfer. The deputy spoke with a woman at the home and she said everything was fine.

Salineville

— While patrolling on Jefferson Street at 11:55 p.m. Monday police saw a girl who was reported as a runaway speaking with Brenden Sullivan who was known to have warrants for his arrest. The two ran from police and as a result charges of obstructing official business were filed.

Columbiana

— Kayla Macklin, 30, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on South Vine Street at 5:18 p.m. Friday.

— K-9 Csuti was deployed for a vehicle sniff at 7:44 p.m. Friday.

East Palestine

— Police were called to a West Clark Street home at 3:52 p.m. Thursday for a report of a physical domestic violence call. Kaje Beamer, 19, was arrested for domestic violence and taken to the county jail after reportedly assaulting his grandfather.

— Police assisted a driver whose car became disabled on East Taggart Street at 7:26 p.m. Thursday.

— Someone reported a suspicious person on Park Avenue at 8:47 p.m. Thursday.

— Police were called to a South Market Street home at 9:33 p.m. Thursday for a report that a woman known to the resident was forcing her way into the home.

— Police were called to the 200 block of Park Avenue at 11:08 p.m. Thursday to check the well being of an intoxicated woman after the caller heard items breaking and yelling. Police spoke with Lisa Karnis who was reportedly intoxicated and extremely agitated over her neighbor’s dogs. She reported that the dogs have been allowed to run at large for months despite her complaints. Police asked if she called the police station when the dogs are running, and she claimed that she had. Police told her that she needed to call the police department when the dogs are actually running at large in order to resolve the situation.

Salem

— An officer at 3:31 a.m. Saturday saw a vehicle parked at a closed business and made contact, finding a man sleeping. He showed no signs of intoxication and said he got into an argument with some of his friends and did not want to stay there any longer. He left on foot due to his vehicle not starting. A note was left on the vehicle advising the business he would return in the morning.

— A man in the 200 block of East Fourth Street reported at 2:02 a.m. Saturday that he got into a fight with his neighbors while having a bonfire at his residence. They left before police arrived. Police spoke to the neighbors who said it was only verbal, with nothing physical occurring.

— Loud music was reported at 1:36 a.m. Saturday in the 900 block of East Fifth Street, but was not found.

— A reckless operator reported at 12:28 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Franklin could not be found.

— An officer on patrol in the Walmart parking lot at 12:25 a.m. Saturday was flagged down by a person requesting a well-being check on an elderly female slumped over inside a vehicle. The female told police she must have fallen asleep before going into the store and said she was OK. At 12:56 a.m., police were called back to Walmart for another call about the same lady slumped over. She was awake and still advised she was OK, then went into the store.

— A Columbiana man reported at 12:19 a.m. Saturday that while walking near Speedway gas station on West State Street, someone in a vehicle threw a pop at him, striking him in the shoulder area. He didn’t know the person or who owned the vehicle.

— Keith Wise, 31, of Canton, was cited for operating a vehicle under the influence, disobeying a traffic control device and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop at 11:39 p.m. Friday on South Howard Avenue near West Wilson Street. K-9 Simon indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor and the driver was found impaired. Marijuana was found in the vehicle and seized. The vehicle was towed and he was released to his girlfriend.

— A reckless vehicle reported at 10:52 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of East State Street was not found.

— Loud persons were reported at 10:27 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of Granite. Persons at the property were told to keep it down.

— Police responded at 8:04 p.m. Friday to the area of East Third Street and Union Avenue for a complaint of a male with a gun. Police were unable to locate anyone. The incident is under investigation.

— A woman in the 400 block of West State Street reported at 7:43 p.m. Saturday that someone struck her fence earlier in the afternoon.

— A man came to the station at 7:41 p.m. Friday to report possible drug activity at a residence in Salem.

— A neighbor dispute was reported at 7:17 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of Prospect Street where a woman said neighbor children took her son’s football and were reluctant to return it. By the time police arrived, the football had been returned.

— Stephen Bell Jr., 31, of 965 S. Lundy Ave., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and taken to the Columbiana County jail after a traffic stop near the residence where he resides at 7:16 p.m. Friday. He was detained after exiting the vehicle before police made contact. Drug paraphernalia was located in the driveway from the male throwing the object from the vehicle. K-9 Simon indicated to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. During a search, more drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle.

— A male from the 400 block of Aetna Street reported at 7:04 p.m. Friday that a burglary occurred at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at his residence. He said he heard someone enter his residence and saw a silhouette, but assumed it was his cousin, who lives with him. On Friday, a friend told him he spoke with a nearby neighbor who said she might have the event on her security camera. The friend said he watched the video. Officers spoke with the neighbor, who said she didn’t speak to anybody about the alleged incident and she doesn’t have any cameras. Officers told the man what she said and that he may want to speak to his friend as it appears the information he provided was untrue. An investigation is pending.

— In the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 6:16 p.m. Friday, a man was noticed stumbling in a parking lot while headed toward his vehicle. He advised officers he had been drinking and was given a courtesy ride to a relative’s residence.

— An anonymous person spoke to police at 6:05 p.m. Friday about issues in the 1200 block of Jefferson Avenue.

— A bicycle recovered from the 300 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 5:01 p.m. Friday was taken to the police station.

— Police were called at 4:50 p.m. Friday to the 300 block of West Pershing Street for an issue with mail. The person was told to contact the Salem Post Office.

— Police were called to Centennial Park at 4:14 p.m. Wednesday to check the well-being of a male. He said he was fine.

— A man at 3:42 p.m. Friday dropped off someone else’s property that was found at the rear of his property. The owner was contacted to retrieve it.

— A woman concerned for a neighbor she had not seen in a week requested a well-being check at 3:07 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of East State Street. Officers spoke with a family member who said everything was fine.

— A man in the 500 block of West Pershing Street reported at 2:48 p.m. Friday that an unknown person punctured the right front tire on his vehicle.

— A anonymous person at 2:47 p.m. Friday turned in a driver’s license and credit card found near a business. The owner was contacted to retrieve the items.

— Police were called at 2:06 p.m. Friday to the 100 block of Penn Avenue for a car parked in the 20-minute loading zone. The owner was in the process of leaving and was told they could be cited for parking there too long.

— Police responded at 12:18 p.m. Friday to the 200 block of West Wilson for a trash can on fire. The fire was already out when the fire department arrived to check on it. Firefighters did not determine any foul play.

— A man in the 400 block of Continental Drive reported at 1:41 p.m. Friday that he believed someone known to him took two parts from his gaming system. Police spoke to the other person, who denied taking the items and had spoken to the man.

— Police were called at 1:29 p.m. Friday to the 400 block of Franklin Avenue for a civil matter. Officers stood by while the caller gathered belongings.

— An abandoned bike reported in the 500 block of West School Street at 12:17 p.m. Friday was taken to the police station.

— A woman from South Lundy Avenue spoke to police at 12:09 p.m. Friday after being referred by Perry Township. She said that while she was living in Perry Township, coworkers bought her a kayak for her birthday, but she was unable to take it so it remained at a friend’s residence on Springdale Street, also in Perry Township. The kayak had been there since April 2017 but she wasn’t. She said she made numerous attempts to retrieve it but had been unsuccessful. An officer spoke to the Springdale Street resident and she claimed to have purchased the kayak. She did admit the kayak was purchased for the woman but she did not take possession for the past two years. The resident said she registered the kayak in her name. The woman was told her options.

— A man in the 900 block of Fair Avenue reported at 11:01 a.m. Friday that his wallet was taken from his vehicle Monday.

— A woman in the 900 block of South Avenue reported at 7:36 a.m. Friday that someone had gone through her car. She found the door open and the center console opened up.

— An alarm was reported in the 100 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 6:25 a.m. Friday. The exterior was secure.

East Liverpool

— Christy Pipes reported Monday she was attacked by a pitbull while walking with her dog on Thompson Avenue. The dog’s owner, Jarrod Click, told police that Pipes’ dog went after a child in front of the house and the pitbull went after her dog. Click advised that the health department would be in touch to quartantine the pitbull until further notice.

— Candace M. Thompkins, Alpha Street, reported Monday her son was walking on Minnesota Avenue when Andrew Ice told his dog to bite the boy, reportedly using a racial slur. Thompkins said her son and Ice have feuded for a while and fears for her son’s safety. Officers spoke with Ice, who stated that he did not call him any name. Ice stated that he thought theb oy said something about his monther and he had a talk with Thompkins about it. Some time later, another witness arrived and told Ice to apologize to Thompkins, which he did. Both parties were advised to stay away from each other.

— Police were called at 11:56 p.m. Monday to the area of Lisbon Street for a report of an intoxicate man walking down the middle of the road, who was identified as Zack Humphreys, who was later taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.

— Police were called at 10:24 p.m. Monday to a Vine Street residence for a possible suicide attempt. Officers spoke with woman, who told officers she was fine.

— Police were called at 11:03 p.m. Monday to a Minerva Street home for a fight in progress. Upon arrival, the parties had already split up. Jonathan Russell was transported by ambulance to East Liverpool City Hospital for treatment.
