West Branch FFA officer team retreat BELOIT – The West Branch FFA officer team traveled to Ohio’s Amish Country in June for its annual officer retreat. During the trip, officers participated in several team-building activities that helped them improve communication, problem-solving and teamwork. CCBDD approves purchase of new van

LISBON — Board members during Monday’s Columbiana County Board of Development Disabilities meeting approved the purchase of a 2026 Ford E350 Glaval van from Carpenter Bus sales for $118,900 plus a $1,500 delivery for a total of $120,400. Superintendent William Devon told board members that they had given the approval in May to purchase a van for $100,000, but after looking, the only ones he could find were single axle vans and he would feel better if the board would approve the new amount of $120,400 for a dual axle van for more stability in the snow. Sheriff’s Office — A deputy responded at 7:34 p.m. Wednesday to a residence on James Drive to conduct a welfare check and was met by the person’s mother, who took the deputy to the person’s room, where he advised he was okay and just not feeling himself due to an injury. Two arrested on drug charges following search of East Palestine home

EAST PALESTINE — Two people were arrested this week on drug charges following a police investigation. According to a statement released by the East Palestine Police Department on its Facebook page on Thursday the arrests were made on the 100 block of West Martin Street as the result of a search warrant executed at a home. “During the search of the residence officers recovered suspects narcotics, drug paraphernalia, electronic devices and several hypodermic syringes,” the statement said. State Route 39 upcoming daytime closures west of Wellsville

From Aug. 28 through Sept. 9, state Route 39 will close west of Wellsville between West Street and Old Irondale Road for culvert replacement work. Closure hours will be 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding Labor Day). The detour will be state Route 7 north to state Route 45 north, state Route 45 north to state Route 518 west, state Route 518 west to state Route 164 south, state Route 164 south back to state Route 39, and reverse. Estimated completion date is Sept. 9.

Sebring man facing child sex abuse material charges

GOSHEN TWP. (WKBN) — A Sebring man is facing 15 felony charges following an investigation into child sex abuse materials. A news release from the Goshen Police Department states that the department received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children division of the Cuyahoga County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office that a Goshen Township resident had been uploading child sex abuse material. Police identified the suspect as Jeffrey August, 36, who they said recently moved to the village of Sebring. Investigators executed a search warrant at August’s home in Sebring on Aug. 13, ...
