EAST PALESTINE -- Two people were arrested this week on drug charges following a police investigation.
According to a statement released by the East Palestine Police Department on its Facebook page on Thursday the arrests were made on the 100 block of West Martin Street as the result of a search warrant executed at a home.
"During the search of the residence officers recovered suspects narcotics, drug paraphernalia, electronic devices and several hypodermic syringes," the statement said.
A dog and a cat were also removed from the home and turned over to the Columbiana County Humane Society.
The two people arrested were Shawna Lewis and Stephanie Igo, age and address not listed, who were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments.
Lewis and Igo were both taken to the Columbiana County Jail and additional charges are expected to be filed pending lab results from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation Crime Lab.
"We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Chief Pike of the Columbiana County Humane Society, the East Palestine Fire Department and Columbiana County Prosecutor's Office for their assistance," the statement signed by Lt. Don Johnson said.
