LISBON – The Lisbon Ruritan Club is seeking volunteers to continue making apple fritters for the Johnny Appleseed Festival. The club has been making and selling apple fritters at the festive since 1968. In the early 1980s the club had approximately 50 members and prepared and cooked about 175 gallons of fritter batter, using seven fryers. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, it settled in with about 22 members and 120 gallons of batter and four fryers. Salem — A structure fire was reported in the 300 block of East Euclid Street at 5:09 a.m. Monday. When firefighters arrived, smoke was visible inside the building, and they were met by employees of the business that took them to the area where the fire occurred.
