CALCUTTA — St. Clair Township is opting out of the state salt contract. Trustee James Sabatini II, Fiscal Officer Deborah Dawson and Road Foreman Dave Smith Monday discussed their review of the township’s road salt inventory, cost increase of salt and the budget. Goshen Township trustees approve 2027 tax budget

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP — The board of trustees approved the township’s 2027 tax budget in its meeting Tuesday. Fiscal Officer Michele Barratt stressed that the tax budget is distinct from the township’s operating budget, which is reviewed and approved by the trustees annually, and are best projections for use by the county. Electrical panel arrives for East Palestine pool, opening date still to be determined

EAST PALESTINE — The long-awaited electrical panel for the public pool at Village Park has arrived, but an opening date is still to be determined as the village works to have the pool operational. Village Manager Antonio Diaz-Guy provided an update on the work during the Monday council meeting. He said that the electrical panel is being installed and the next step is for the pool surface to be plastered and filled. LISBON — A jury trial remains set for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 5 for an Illinois man charged for allegedly possessing images of child pornography after being caught in a sex-for-hire sting in 2024. Assistance available for failed septic systems

LISBON — Columbiana County homeowners with failing septic systems may be eligible for financial assistance through a new $200,000 grant awarded to the Columbiana County Health District. The funding, provided through the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency's Water Pollution Control Loan Fund, will help eligible homeowners repair or replace failing household sewage treatment systems or connect to a public sewer system.
