Municipal Court LISBON — A New York man was fined in Columbiana County Municipal Court Monday after attempting to help a federal prisoner escape incarceration with a drone. Nathan Lund, 34, Beach Avenue, Port Jefferson, New York, was sentenced to three days in jail with credit for three days served and fined $150 for criminal trespass for entering the property of the FCI Elkton Prison without permission on June 18, 2026. Career center's time change to provide more lab experience

LISBON — The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center has started the new school year with the new class time change that is expected to give students more lab time. The change was approved by the board of education earlier this year, effective for this school year. As a result, instead of beginning the day at 7:50 a.m. classes are now starting at 7:45 a.m., resulting in an additional five minutes per day, which translates to a new daily career lab time of 179 minutes. Humane society seeks information in case of abandoned dogs

SALEM — The Columbiana County Humane Society is asking the public for any information they may have about dogs abandoned on the side of the road in cages. According to a statement posted to the humane society’s Facebook page, the humane society is asking anyone with information about the neglect and abandonment of eight dogs discovered in “filthy crates” along Trinity Church Road near state Route 518 at 11:50 p.m. Friday to contact the organization at 234-575-1400. EAST PALESTINE — The East Palestine School District has partnered with a non-profit organization to help with workforce readiness and career-technical education partnerships. The Board of Education approved a contract in August with Team Workforce of Youngstown at a cost of $197,465. Trash will be collected in East Liverpool on Labor Day Trash is being collected from East Liverpool residents on the upcoming Labor Day holiday. The city refuse and recycling department employees are scheduled to work Monday, Sept. 7. COLUMBUS — Three local agencies have received funds to help communities connect survivors of opioid addiction to treatment and recovery. The Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board will receive $126,198, the East Palestine Police Department $24,315and the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office $144,942.91.
