LISBON -- A New York man was fined in Columbiana County Municipal Court Monday after attempting to help a federal prisoner escape incarceration with a drone.
Nathan Lund, 34, Beach Avenue, Port Jefferson, New York, was sentenced to three days in jail with credit for three days served and fined $150 for criminal trespass for entering the property of the FCI Elkton Prison without permission on June 18, 2026. Lund was found outside of a U-Haul in the facilities entrance wearing a black chest rig with a hand-held control device for a large drone in an attempt to assist a federal inmate in escaping the prison by lifting him over the fence area with a rope and hook attached to a large drone.
A preliminary hearing and pretrial were set Sept. 8 for Richard Short, 58, Rose Drive, Lisbon, charged with fifth-degree felony receiving stolen property, and a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespass for allegedly possessing a stolen compound bow valued at $400, and a stolen Razor body armor vest and carrier valued at $1,367.20, and for being inside of a vacant apartment without permission in Lisbon on Aug. 28.
Linda Cooper, 65, East Fourth Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 178 days suspended and fined $200 for theft for stealing a package from an East Liverpool property on Aug. 3.
Nicola Strother, 41, First Street, Beloit, was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served and fined $250 for theft for stealing a package from the porch of a Knox Township residence on April 30.
Travis Fritz, 45, Mentch Drive, Penn Run, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served and fined $650 for possessing criminal tools and disorderly conduct amended from engaging in prostitution for arranging to meet with an undercover agent from the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in Unity Township on June 18 for sexual activity in exchange for $140 and possessing a condom, the currency, and the cellular device used to arrange the criminal act at that time.
Jordan Smith, 45, County Road 46, Toronto, was fined $150 for possessing a straw containing white powder residue and a small round rubber container holding an unknown white powder believed to be a controlled substance during a traffic stop at a St. Clair Township business on June 21.
Paul Gromen, 44, Southern Boulevard, Youngstown, was sentenced to 90 days in jail with 87 days suspended and credit for three days in a driver intervention program and fined $650 for OVI. A charge of OVI breath and failure to control were dismissed.
A pretrial was set Sept. 9 for Joseph Biser, 19, Union Ridge Road, Rogers, charged with aggravated menacing for allegedly telling the employees of a Salem business that he had a firearm and was going to shoot them on Sunday.
A pretrial was set Sept. 9 for Rachel Troup, 49, Ravine Street, East Liverpool, charged with domestic violence for allegedly throwing an aluminum cup at a man's head causing minor injuries during an argument in East Liverpool on Friday.
A pretrial was set Sept. 8 for Dustin Andrews, 28, state Route 170, East Palestine, charged with theft, failure to comply, possessing drug paraphernalia, possessing instruments to ingest drugs, and driving under suspension. The charge of theft stems from an incident on Jan. 27, when Andrews was alleged to have taken two Lincoln Weld-Paks and multiple battery powered tools from inside of a detached garage in Negley sometime between Oct. 15, 2025, and Jan. 23, 2026. The charge of failure to comply stems from an incident on Jan. 21, when Andrews allegedly fled from officers when they attempted a traffic stop on his vehicle on state Route 170 in Lisbon. The charge of possessing instruments to ingest drugs stems from an incident on Feb. 11, 2025, when he allegedly possessed a cut straw with white residue during a traffic stop on a vehicle, he was the passenger of in Lisbon. The paraphernalia charge stems from an incident when he allegedly possessed suspected narcotics and paraphernalia on his person and on the passenger side floorboard of a vehicle he was a passenger in during a traffic stop in St. Clair Township on Aug. 23, 2023.
A pretrial was set Oct. 27 for Steven Richards, 37, Steubenville Pike Road, Lisbon, charged with obstructing official business for allegedly providing officers with a false surname and refused to call officers back following a disturbance at a medical facility in Perry Township on Aug. 6.
A pretrial was set Oct. 26 for David Straka, 39, Daniels Street, Columbiana, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing a plastic container with multiple prescription medications, suspected crushed up Buprenorphine and a straw with a powdered substance lining the inside during a traffic stop at a business in Columbiana on Friday.
A pretrial was set Oct. 28 for Barry Cooper, 70, state Route 30, Lisbon, charged with domestic violence for allegedly engaging in physical violence with a woman which left a red mark on their left arm and threatening further physical violence in Center Township on Sunday.
A pretrial was set Oct. 28 for Michael Wilson, 39, Ogden Avenue, Warren, charged with OVI and driving under suspension.
A pretrial was set Oct. 27 for Haley Buzzard, 36, West Seventh Street, East Liverpool, charged with OVI, failure to stop after an accident, and reasonable control.
A pretrial was set Nov. 3 for Zachary Daniels, 33, Sommer Street, Leetonia, charged with OVI and a stop sign violation.
A pretrial was set Oct. 26 for Ian Cole, 46, Waddell Street, Leetonia, charged with OVI, a seatbelt violation, and loud exhaust.
A pretrial was set Oct. 27 for Jolynn Varrati, 45, Pugh Road, East Liverpool, charged with OVI and slow speed.
