Non-profit looks to hold wing festival in Columbiana

COLUMBIANA — A non-profit organization is looking to host a wing festival in the city. Wanda Wellman of Alta Care Group presented the idea to City Council recently. Wellman said the organization serves Mahoning and Trumbull counties and opened a behavioral health office in Salem in May, bringing the service area to Columbiana County as well. East Palestine school board approves teacher union contract

EAST PALESTINE — East Palestine teachers will earn wage increases over the next two years now that the Board of Education has approved a new contract with the East Palestine Education Association (EPEA). The board approved the new two-year contract with the EPEA following negotiations. As a result certified staff, which are teachers, will earn a 2 percent increase in base wages the first year and 3 percent the second year. Wellsville received funding for marina renovations

WELLSVILLE — The village has received funding for renovations at the marina. Fiscal Officer Hoi Wah Yu reported to council Tuesday the village has been awarded $25,000 from the Charles M. Pugliese and Thelma M. Pugliese Charitable Foundation. She noted that the grant could also possibly be used toward matching funds for CDBG Plus dollars. Wah said she applied for the grant in March.
