Liverpool man breaks up fight with revolver
EAST LIVERPOOL – One man was charged after police responded Thursday night to Wedgewood Street for reports of shots being fired.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with DaNeil Prentice, who said his neighbor, Jason A. Milliron, 36, had come outside onto his porch and fired a shot from a revolver as Prentice stood on his porch.
Officers reported a bullet hole was found in the porch ceiling at Milliron’s home, and, when questioned, Milliron reportedly admitted firing one round into the air after he was unable to stop Prentice and two other men from assaulting his cousin.
Milliron told police Prentice and the other men beat his cousin to the ground, began kicking him and stole his necklace. Officers reported that Milliron was “extremely cooperative” during their investigation and stressed that he was only trying to save his cousin from an assault and robbery.
Capt. Tom Clark spoke with assistant Law Director Tim McNicol, who recommended charging Milliron with aggravated menacing, and he was taken into custody.
Prentice and the other men were not charged, according to police Friday.
Milliron appeared in Municipal Court on the aggravated menacing charge Friday and was fined $100, sentenced to 30 days, 27 suspended and placed on probation two years. The .22-caliber pistol used in the incident was ordered destroyed by Judge Melissa Byers Emmerling.
