SALINEVILLE — Many turned out at Salineville’s Kiwanis Park for a concert presented by Southern Local’s beginning/fifth grade, middle school and high school concert bands.

Led by Emily Bowling, Southern Local Junior-Senior High School’s band director, the three ensembles performed a variety of selections, from “Linus and Lucy” from the Peanuts television specials to “Legend of the Red Tails,” a march inspired by the Tuskegee Airmen, with all three groups teaming for a finale of “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocius.”

Bowling announced high school band members Haylee Kellogg, Katie Kellogg, Alexa Kinemond, Ava Reed and Gavin Blakeley were named to the Columbiana County Honors Band and Kloe Ensinger and Haylee Kellogg received superior ratings for their performances at the Ohio Music Education Association’s Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Event, a statewide competition held in Massillon earlier this year.

Also recognized were the band’s senior members: Autumn Locke, Aiden Davis, Anastasia Shew, Skilar Parrish, Haylee Kellogg and Leah Batcha.

Starting at $2.99/week.
