LISBON — In Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, a Mineral Ridge man recently pleaded guilty to attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and attempted compelling prostitution, each a fourth-degree felony. Hess made arrangements with an undercover Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force agent to meet an adult female and 15-year-old girl for sexual conduct in exchange for $130, arriving in Salem on Nov. 9. A sentencing hearing was set for Nov. 17.
In other court news:
— Gary Eddy, 40, Leslie Road, Rogers, recently entered a change of plea, pleading guilty to two counts of felony passing bad checks and two counts of forgery, all fifth-degree felonies, for defrauding Ron Connelly by writing bad checks for $1,850 payable to American Custom Construction on Nov. 22, 2021 and Dec. 15, 2021. A sentencing hearing was set for Oct. 12.
— Morgan Kaser, 21, Carrollton, plead guilty to two counts of fourth-degree felony possession of fentanyl-related compound and two counts fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs with specifications for forfeiture of money in a drug case. The charges are from two separate cases, stemming from a 2022 drug raid in Salineville and a prior incident in April of 2021.
— Amanda Johnson, 31, state Route 45, Lisbon, was sentenced to community control and up to six months in the Eastern Ohio Corrections Center (EOCC) on aggravated possession of drugs and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, both fifth degree felonies for having methamphetamines and fentanyl compounds on Aug. 6, 2021. Johnson was originally granted intervention but that was dishonorably terminated.
— Nathan Shultz, 30, Purniton Avenue, East Liverpool, was sentenced to three years community control and up to six months in Eastern Ohio Correctional Center for possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony. Charges stemmed from an incident on Oct. 21, 2021.
— Rachel Lawson, 32, Aten Avenue, Wellsville, was recently denied judicial release by Common Pleas Judge Scott Washam. Lawson is currently serving two to three years in prison for felonious assault, a second-degree felony, with credit for 41 days served. While driving a vehicle, Lawson sideswiped a van at Independence Square, Wellsville, on Oct. 10, 2021, hitting a woman and dragging her onto the sidewalk and grass, causing injury.
— Frank Mara, 39, Warren, was recently sentenced to community control on fifth-degree felonies of aggravated possession of drugs and possession of a fentanyl-related compound. All the charges stem from an incident on Nov. 27, 2021 in the county.
Municipal
LISBON — A case of second-degree felonious assault against Kristal D. Keyes, 39, Claibourne, East Liverpool, was bound over to the Columbiana County Grand Jury Thursday in municipal court. On July 15 in East Liverpool, she allegedly assaulted a victim with two other assailants, one of which struck the victim in the head with a pipe. The victim was also treated at a hospital for a fractured hand.
A pretrial was set Nov. 16 for Dillon J. Shipley, 19, Secrest Road, Salem, charged with sexual imposition for allegedly forcing a female juvenile to touch his genitals May 30 in Salem.
A pretrial was set Dec. 5 for Michael E. Reynolds, 47, Brookfield Avenue, Lisbon, charged with violation of a temporary protection order for allegedly driving through the area behind the victim’s house July 19 in Lisbon.
A pretrial was set Dec. 11 for Zashenka Liz Carrasquillo, 18, West Martin Street, East Palestine, charged with assault for allegedly causing physical harm to a juvenile victim June 2 in East Palestine.
Jennifer Marie Bridget White, 42, Bloomfield Road, East Liverpool, was sentenced to 180 days in jail (suspended), fined $250, placed on two years probation, and ordered to complete 40 hours community service and alcohol and substance abuse assessment for abusing harmful intoxicants.
George F. Dimos, 41, McDonald, was sentenced to 90 days in jail (suspended), fined $750, placed on two years probation and ordered to complete 20 hours community service and an online anti-prostitution class for engaging in prostitution and possession of criminal tools.
Donald C. Hofmeister, 58, Tunnel Hill Road, Hanoverton, was sentenced to 90 days in jail, fined $850, placed on two years probation and ordered to complete 20 hours of community service and an online anti-prostitution class for engaging in prostitution, possession of criminal tools and aggravated trafficking (marijuana).
Russell W. Kukuk, 34, Salem Alliance Road, Salem, was sentenced to 180 days in jail, fined $300, placed on two years probation and ordered to complete 20 hours community service and general mental health and substance abuse evaluations as well as have no contact with the victim for domestic violence.
Ryan D. Armstrong, 38, Depot Road, Salem, was fined $100 for disorderly conduct.
Joseph H. Hakala, 29, state Route 7, New Waterford, was sentenced to 180 days in jail (175 suspended and three credited), fined $750, placed on two years probation and ordered to complete 20 hours community service, a general mental health evaluation and have no contact with the victim for two counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving under suspension, marked lanes and distracted driving.
Brianna Charlene Pugh, 20, Grandview Road, Chester, was sentenced to 90 days in jail (suspended), fined $200, placed on one year probation and ordered to complete 20 hours community service and have no contact with the Calcutta Walmart for theft.
Dorothy Marie Williams, 88, North Port, Florida, was fined $195 for marked lanes and no driver’s license amended from driving under suspension.
Stephanie A. Shack, 56, East Ohio Avenue, Sebring, was sentenced to 180 days in jail (134 suspended and 46 credited), fined $400, placed on two years probation and ordered to complete 20 hours community service and a general mental health evaluation as well as have no contact with the victim for menacing by stalking, aggravated menacing and criminal trespass.
Charles Nicholas Gough, 24, West Washington Street, Lisbon, was fined $250 for driving under suspension.
