3 min read

LISBON -- County Auditor Nancy Milliken issued the following release Thursday:

In compliance with Ohio Revised Code 955.01, all dogs 3 months of age and older, harbored in Columbiana County, must be licensed. The 2024 dog licenses will go on sale Dec. 1, 2023 through Jan 31 2024. However, the 2024 dog license renewal applications will be mailed out on Friday, November 3rd to all registered dog owners.

If you have purchased multi-year licenses for any of your dogs & they have the year 2024 on the license or later, they will not be listed on your application and do not need renewed. No 2024 dog licenses will be sold in person, processed online or mailed out until December 1st, 2023.

The preferred method of purchasing your 2024 dog licenses is by mail or online at https://www.doglicenses.us/OH/Columbiana. Make sure you are on the correct website when purchasing your dog licenses. It should clearly state it is the Columbiana County Auditor's website with pictures of your auditor, Nancy Milliken, on the homepage. Fraudulent sites have been reported. A convenience fee will be assessed for all electronic transactions.

You will be able to buy your licenses in person at the Auditor's office, the Dog Pound or at one of our satellite providers. You can find a list of these providers and their available hours on our website or by calling the Auditor's office. These satellite providers only sell licenses from December 1st through January 31st.

The registration fee for the one-year license is $12.00, the three-year license is $36.00 and the permanent license is $120.0. Owners should be aware that these longer-term licenses can be bought online, by mail or in person at the auditor's office only; and are non-refundable in the event of the death of the animal. The cost of each one-year license is $12.75 when purchased at a satellite provider with cash, check or money order only, no credit cards accepted.

If you received a pre-printed application in the mail, please mail the bottom of the application with your payment or bring with you if coming in person. Without a completed application, identification showing your name and current address will be required in order to buy your dog licenses. The auditor's office and the dog pound will be accepting Visa, MasterCard, Discover and debit cards, in addition to cash, checks and money orders. If paying with cash, please bring exact amount.

Dog license applications and payments may also be mailed to the Columbiana County Auditor's Office at 105 S. Market St., Lisbon, OH, 44432, with a postmark no later than Jan 31st, 2024. A penalty of $12 per license will be applied after Jan 31st. If you no longer have your dog, please mark this on your application and return so that we may update your account.

If you do not receive your application by November 20, 2023, please call 330-424-9515 ext. 1006 and one will be mailed to you. All kennel licenses will be processed by mail only through the auditor's office.
