ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP - Several residents brought their concerns over five nuisance properties in St. Clair Township to the township trustees Monday.
Trustee Robert Swickard explained to the residents that making process in handling such properties and getting resolutions is a long process with no township zoning and two ordinances that address limited problems.
Swickard noted that the residents had taken the first step in that process by filing complaints and that the township trustees had signed three letters earlier in the day to mail out to the owners of three of the houses mentioned. He said that the owners have 30 days to respond and if there is no response, then a second letter is required to be sent.
Swickard also said there is one house they have been trying to deal with for two years, but if one step in the process is filed one day late then the whole process starts over again. So they are being cautious right now to make sure every step is completed in time.
