UNITY — Heartland's Evan Farrell threw a perfect game as the Lions knocked off Southern Local 13-0 in a Div. VII sectional baseball tournament game on Thursday at Ace of Diamonds. Farrell threw 51 pitches with 40 for strikes. He struck out six and walked none. Jacob Goehring had a strong day at the plate with a double and triple with an RBI. AUSTINTOWN — They may have taken the district track meet out of Salem, but they can’t take away the Quakers’ winning ways. The Salem girls and boys combined for five district champions and eight more regional qualifiers at the Austintown Fitch Division III district meet Thursday. ANDOVER — Southern senior Maddy Jones and United sophomore Taylor Simmons are aiming for more than a district championship. Both won events at the Pymatuning Valley Division IV district track and field meet Wednesday.
