Bulldogs keep fighting into second round

EAST PALESTINE — East Palestine's softball team exploded for four runs in the third inning to defeat Kirtland 6-0 on Wednesday in a Div. VI sectional contest. Kennedy Andre went the distance for the 17th seeded Bulldogs with eight strikeouts and a walk. Graycee Ford had a double and single to lead the Bulldogs. Sydney Jurjavcic and Andre had two hits each. United 14, Waynedale 3 HANOVERTON — No. 11 seed United had no trouble with No. 22 seed Waynedale as the Eagles cruised to a 14-3 win in a Div. VI sectional final Wednesday. Chloe Angelo sparked the Eagles with a home run, two singles and four RBIs. Brittany Miller had three hits and two RBIs. Madison Aegerter chipped in four singles and two RBIs. HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. — Mount Union’s men’s golf team did not make the cut Wednesday the NCAA Division III Championship at Mission Resort and Club. The Purple Raiders tied for 34th a +48 through two round. Illinois Wesleyan leads the team standings at -5, three strokes ahead of Washington & Lee.
