United slugs Lisbon

United at Lisbon

LISBON — United totaled 31 hits, while freshman Madison Aegerter and sophomore Peyton Kekel held Lisbon to two earned runs in the Eagles’ 11-1, 21-4 sweep in a pair of five-inning games Monday.

United improves to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference, tied for first place with five-time defending league champion Columbiana. The Eagles will host East Palestine today.

Lisbon drops to 2-6 and 1-3 in league play.

Aegerter pitched a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts in the opener. She also had two hits and two RBIs.

In the first game, Peyton Kekel hit an inside-the-park home run and Josie Wargo a triple — both scoring two runs in an eight-run third inning in which the first eight batters scored with no outs.

Kekel had two hits, three RBIs and scored two runs. Jillian Dietrich doubled, singled and scored twice, while Brittany Miller had two hits and Callie Koons scored two runs.

Lisbon scored its only run off Aegerter in the first inning after two United errors and single by Aria Reckner.

United opened the second game with 11 runs in the first inning and the Eagles were off and running. Seven of the Eagles’ 21 runs were earned.

Chloe Angelo had two hits, drive in four runs and scored four more. Callie Koons had a triple, a single and scored four runs. Miley Pitts doubled, singled and scored four runs, Jillian Dietrich doubled, singled and drove in two runs and Josie Wargo doubled and singled and scored two runs. Ella Mobley and Danika Anderson each had two hits and two RBIs. Madison Aegerter doubled and scored two runs.

Peyton Kekel was the winning pitcher, giving up two earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

Abby Ammon led the Blue Devils with a double and two runs.

East Palestine at Columbiana

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana swept a doubleheader against East Palestine on Monday at Firestone Park.

In the first game, Ella Eisenbraun had a double, single and an RBI for the Clippers. Natalie Barrow had a double.

Eisenbraun also was the winning pitcher limiting the Bulldogs to one hit with eight strikeouts and three walks.

Kennedy Andre was the losing pitcher with two walks and a strikeout in four innings.

In the second game, Landry Smith had two hits and two RBIs for the winners. Alexis Sperling added a hit and two RBIs.

Reagan Bell was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts over four innings in relief.

Andre was also the losing pitcher in the second game with two walks and a strikeout in an inning.

Columbiana is 4-0 and 3-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

East Palestine fell to 2-3 overall and 2-3 in the EOAC.

Columbiana is set to host Wheeling Central Catholic on Thursday.

The Bulldogs are at United today.

Southern 17, Wellsville 11

WELLSVILLE — Southern scored 10 runs in the first inning on its way to a 17-11 win over Wellsville.

Destiny Huffman had two triples, two singles and three RBIs for the Indians. Makenna Jones added four hits and three RBIs. Raelea Carosiello had a single, double and an RBI. Aubree Pucci had a hit and two RBIs, while Addy Martin had a hit and two RBIs.

Martin was the winning pitcher with no strikeouts and seven walks in five innings.

Makayla Landess had three hits including a double with four RBIs for the Tigers. Madelyn Landess added two hits and an RBI. Rylee Brown had two hits and an RBI. Aleena Owens had a triple and an RBI, while Madilynn Drysdale had a double and RBI.

Madelyn Landess was the losing pitcher with six strikeouts and three walks.

Southern is 2-5 and 2-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

Wellsville (3-4, 2-2 in the EOAC) is at Southern on Wednesday.

Crestview at Liberty

YOUNGSTOWN — The Crestview softball team was up to the task in a doubleheader sweep of Liberty on Monday at Youngstown State.

Crestview’s Makayla McKee threw a perfect game in the first game as she struck out eight of the nine batters she faced in the 14-0 win in three innings. She also had a hit and two RBIs.

Addison Finch had a double and three RBIs. Cassidee Buckley had a double and an RBI, while Gia Depace had a double.

In the second game, Depace had three hits including a home run with five RBIs for the winners. Alivia Shetler added a single, double and triple with four RBIs. Lilly Beaver posted the win with two walks and five strikeouts in three innings.

Crestview (6-1) hosts Struthers on Thursday.

WELLSBURG, W.Va. — Beaver Local’s softball team posted a 16-1 win over Brooke on Monday.

Addie Thurik had a triple, two singles and an RBI for the winners. Ciara Call added a home run, double and four RBIs. Mya Anderson had a single, home run and three RBIs. Brylee Curtis had two doubles and three RBIs. Macie Bourne had two singles and a triple with an RBI. Ally Wright and Calleigh Eells had doubles.

Call was the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts and a walk in five innings.

Beaver Local (8-2) is at Steubenville today.

Indian Creek 13, East Liverpool 7

WINTERSVILLE — Indian Creek slid past East Liverpool 13-7 on Monday.

For the Potters, Rayne Faessel had a single, triple and two RBIs. Tatum Fink added a single, double and an RBI. Addie Jones had two hits and an RBI.

Fink took the loss with six strikeouts, five walks and 11 earned runs in 2 1/3 innings.

East Liverpool (3-4) hosts Lisbon today.

Oak Glen 11, Edison 1

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Mattie Carney had a single, triple and three RBIs along with striking out five in a complete-game effort in the circle as Oak Glen solved Edison 11-1 in five innings on Monday.

Mikayln Balch had three hits for the winners as Brayley Lash added two hits and an RBI. Nevaeh Heath added a single, double and an RBI. Macy Hartung had a hit and two RBIs.

Oak Glen is 7-4 and will be at Wheeling Central Catholic today.
