URICHSVILLE — The Beaver Local boys wrestling team dropped a pair of matches the Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association Division II regional duals tournament Saturday at Claymont High School.

The third-seede Beavers fell to sixth-seeded Carrollton, 36-34, in the semifinals and to second-seeded Claymont, 43-34, in the consolation match.

Seventh-seeded West Holmes earned a state berth by downing Carrollton, 37-30, in the championship match. West Holmes opened with a 39-38 win over Carrollton.

In the other regional bracket, host and top-seeded New Lexington beat fifth-seeded Indian Valley, 51-27, in the championship match.

The OHSWCA Division II state duals will be held Feb. 14 at Columbus Bishop Watterson High School.

Two Bulldogs place

CONNEAUT — Three area wrestlers placed at the Lady Spartans Invitational at Conneaut High School on Sunday.

East Palestine’s McKenna Paparella finished third at 105 pounds.

Southern’s Aubree Pucci was fifth at 190 and East Palestine’s Alexis Ogle was eighth at 170.

Austintown Fitch topped the 41-team field with 238 1/2 points, followed by Trinity with 193.

Southern was 30th with 26 points and East Palestine 31st with 22 points.
