Lisbon notches 10th win

Lisbon 46, Waterloo 25

ATWATER — Jayden Smyth scored a game-high 18 points and Lylah Brown 10 as Lisbon won for the 10th time, 46-25, over Waterloo on Tuesday.

The Blue Devils outscored the Vikings 14-4 in the third quarter to break the game open.

Lisbon won for the fourth time in five games to improve to 10-7. Waterloo drops to 1-16, the lone victory against winless Akron Springfield, 33-28, on Jan. 3.

Lisbon also won the junior varsity game, 44-12, as Delaney Pickens scored 16 points and Sofia Brown 13.

Both teams play Thursday at Lisbon hosts United and Waterloo entertains McDonald.

Springfield 30, East Palestine 22

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Regan Rogenski hit a trio of three-pointers in the first quarter and finished with 14 points in leading Springfield past East Palestine, 30-22, Monday.

Rogenski had four three-pointers in the first half as the Tigers had a 15-14 lead and then held the Bulldogs to eight points in the second half.

Springfield won its fourth in a row to improve to 9-6. East Palestine evens its mark at 9-9.

Jacklyn Ogle paced the Bulldogs with 13 points and three steals. Amara Wilson and Violet Glavan each had six rebounds. Alexi Ogle made three steals.

Springfield will host Mineral Ridge on Wednesday, while East Palestine travels to Columbiana Thursday

Heartland 46, Valley 42

YOUNGSTOWN — Sarah Reynolds scored four points in the final second as Heartland Christian grabbed a 46-42 win over Valley Christian on Monday.

With the score tied 42-42 with six seconds left, Reynolds got the ball back after her inbounds pass, drove around the key and was fouled with one second left. She made both free throws to give the Lions a 44-42 lead. The Eagles stepped over the line on the inbounds pass for a turnover. Reynolds hit a jumper at the buzzer off the Lions’ inbounds pass.

Kaylin Norbo led the Lions with 18 points, including five straight to open the second half to get the Lions back in the game.

Heartland improves to 7-8, while Valley drops to 5-9.

The game tied eight times, five coming in the first quarter.

Valley took its largest lead at 20-13 in the second quarter. Heartland tied the score at 20-20, but Valley scored the next five points and led 36-30 heading into the fourth quarter.

Norbo scored five quick points and Kalleigh Shodd hit a three-pointer to give the Lions a 40-39 lead.

Both teams play Thursday as Heartland hosts Lowellville and Valley travels to Wellsville.
