COLUMBIANA — When Crestview standout Lainy Auer hit her first spike in warmups, Lorain Clearview’s coaches just looked at each other.

More was to come as the top-seeded Rebels spiked the 30th-seeded Lorain Clearview Clippers, 25-3, 25-9, 25-5, in a Division V sectional mismatch Thursday.

It was the 18th 3-0 victory for the state-ranked Rebels, who improve to 20-3.

Clearview — which won one game all season and dressed eight players Thursday — finishes at 0-19.

Auer totaled 14 spikes, six aces and one kill for the Rebels. She had lots of help Sophia Stewart had six aces, 29 assists and one block, Bella Ciapala five kills and two blocks, Sophia Noling five kills and one block, Sophia Dattilio four kills and two blocks, and Kerrigan Miller four aces and seven digs.

The Rebels scored the first six points of the match and never looked back after taking the early lead with two Dattilio kills and one block.

Val Boyd and Kerrigan Miller each served five points to give the Rebels a 12-2 advantage. Ciapala followed with two spikes and a tip, Cam Davidson added another tip and Auer served the last nine points for a 25-3 win in the first game.

Crestview advances to play 14th-seeded Doylestown Chippewa (13-9) in a district semifinal at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Chippewa won Thursday’s opener against 26th-seeded Liberty in a 3-0 sweep.

Lisbon 3, Lordstown 0

WILLOUGHBY– Lisbon scored a 25-12, 27-25, 25-20 sweep of Lordstown on Thursday in a Div. VII sectional final at Cornerstone Christian.

The No. 11 seed Blue Devils (13-11) jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first set and never looked back against the 17th seeded Red Devils.

Maddie Marshalek led the attack with 10 kills and two blocks. Addison Anderson added eight kills and nine aces. Gionna Lenigar had six kills and three blocks, while Abby Ammon tallied three kills and 18 digs. Alayna Householder contributed four kills, 11 digs and eight points. Setter Stefanee Stacey had 27 assists, three kills and two blocks, while junior libero Hannah Davis turned in a brilliant defensive effort with 22 digs.

Lisbon plays No. 6 seed Cornerstone Christian at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the district semifinal at Kidron Central Christian.

Columbiana 3, Cardinal Mooney 0

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s volleyball team tallied a 25-20, 25-14, 25-15 win over Cardinal Mooney on Thursday in a Div. V sectional opener.

For the No. 4 seed Clippers (19-4), Eva Waller had two kills, eight aces, 26 assists, 17 points and three digs. Landry Smith had 11 kills and seven points. Addisyn Dangler added eight kills, two blocks and two points. Kaydynce Hamner added eight kills and five digs. Evy Rapp had four kills, eight points and 12 digs. Layla McCarthy had 15 digs, while Hailee Gomoll had eight points, five aces and seven digs.

Mooney was the 21st seed.

Columbiana will play No. 19 Girard on Tuesday at Elyria Catholic in the district semifinal.

Wellsville 3, Lowellville 1

KIDRON — Wellsville downed Lowellville 25-18, 22-25, 25-16, 25-9 in Division VII sectional play Thursday.

The 18th-seeded Wellsville improves to 7-15 and will play at second-seeded Kidron Central at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a district semifinal.

Lowellville, the 19th seed, finishes the season at 3-18, including two wins against Sebring.

Heartland 3, Mathews 0

COLUMBIANA — No. 5 seeded Heartland Christian beat No. 13 Mathews 25-15, 25-16, 25-20 on Thursday in a Div. VII sectional contest.

For Heartland (14-9), Keagan Pruitt had 17 kills, two aces and 11 digs. Claire Liposky added eight kills and seven digs. Maddie Neville had eight kills and six digs. Makenna Wilson had 20 assists, two aces and six digs. Sophia Kuzemchak had 11 assists and five digs. Kailey Haugen had 10 digs. Capri Drokin had two blocks and two kills, while Addie Barrett had two kills and three digs.

Heartland will play No. 8 Western Reserve at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Elyria Open Door Christian.

Campbell 3, East Palestine 0

CAMPBELL –Third-seeded Campbell Memorial dropped 26th-seeded East Palestine, 25-20, 25-17, 25-22, in Division VI sectional play Thursday.

East Palestine finishes the season at 12-12 after a 5-0 start.

Topping the Bulldogs were Cami Kridler with 16 assists and 12 digs; Kennedy Andre with eight assists, 10 digs, six points and four aces; Destiney Burtyk with 11 kills and four digs; Alyssa Dilling with 11 digs and four points; Marley Blythe with 12 digs, four kills and five points; and Amara Wilson with five kills and five digs.

Campbell (20-3) will play 25th-seeded Lake Center Christian at 5 p.m. Monday in the district semifinal at Middlefield Cardinal.

Lake Center swept 23rd-seeded Southern Local, 25-12, 25-18, 25-18, in Thursday’s second match.

Newton Falls 3, United 1

ORWELL — The No. 13 seed was unlucky for United.

The Eagles fell to 20th-seeded Newton Falls, 25-23, 25-22, 20-25, 25-20, in Division VI sectional action Thursday.

Newton Falls, led by Jada Blutcher’s 20 kills, won its sixth straight to improve to 16-7.

For the Eagles, Malee Smith had nine kills, Arianna Cusick five aces and seven kills, Rileah Phillips four kills and 19 assists, Chloe Angelo four kills and four blocks, Megan Short four kills and Baylee Smith 30 digs.

United lost for the third time in the last 15 matches to finish with a 17-6 record.

Lake Center 3, Southern 0

CAMPBELL — The 25th-seeded Lake Center Christian volleyball team topped 23rd-seeded Southern Local, 25-12, 25-18, 25-20, in a Division VI sectional play Thursday.

Lake Center (12-7) will play third-seeded Campbell Memorial at 5 p.m. Monday in the district semifinal at Middlefield Cardinal.

Southern was paced by seniros Haylee Kellogg with eight points and 18 assits, Allyssa Shroades nine kills and two blocks and Brooke Boyle served four points. Katie Kellogg contributed four point and 11 kills, Natalia Lopez six kills and four blocks and Kalayah Crute three kills and two blocks.

Southern finishes the season with a 12-11 record.

Salem 3, Orange 0

ASHTABULA — The 23rd-seeded Salem Quakers don’t mind taking another trip to Ashtabula Edgewood.

The Quakers topped 30th-seeded Pepper Pike Orange, 25-13, 25-23, 25-11 in Division IV sectional play Thursday.

In Monday’s district semifinals, Salem (8-15) will play at third-seeded Edgewood at 5 p.m., followed by 10th-seeded West Branch vs. 11th-seeded Parma Heights Holy Name at 7 p.m.

West Branch 3, Streetsboro 0

BELOIT — West Branch rolled over 33rd-seeded Streetsboro, 25-13, 25-18, 25-12, Division IV sectional play Thursday.

The 10th-seeded Warriors (14-9) will play 11th-seeded Parma Heights Holy Name in a district semifinal at 7 p.m. Monday at Ashtabula Edgwood High School.

Holy Name beat 21st-seeded Struthers, 25-10, 25-12, 25-6, in Thursday’s opener at West Branch High School.
