Mays scores five for Beavers
CALCUTTA — Beaver Local’s boys soccer team routed Coshocton 8-0 on Thursday in a Div. IV sectional opener.
Beaver Local was led by Kaden Mays’ five goals. Brandon Smith, Evan Ours and Austin Holmes also had goals.
No. 5 seeded Beaver Local improved to 10-5-2, while No. 12 seed Coshocton fell to 4-11-2.
The fifth-seeded Beavers will travel to No. 4 McConnellsville Morgan for a district semifinal on Tuesday. Morgan was a 9-1 winner over Minerva on Thursday night.
Sandy Valley 3, East Liverpool 1
MAGNOLIA — East Liverpool’s boys soccer team was eliminated from the Div. IV sectional tournament with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Sandy Valley on Thursday.
Dom Johnson scored for the Potters on an assist from Cam Dubray.
East Liverpool, the 10th seed, finished the season 8-7-2.
No. 6 Sandy Valley (9-4-3) advances to play at No. 3 seed West Muskigum on Tuesday.
Champion 8, Columbiana 0
WARREN — Top-seeded Champion eliminated Columbiana 8-0 on Thursday in a Div. V sectional boys soccer contest.
Champion is 17-0-1.
No. 33 seed Columbiana finished 3-8.
Canton Central 3, Heartland 2
CANTON — Heartland Christian’s boys soccer season came to a close with a 3-2 loss to Canton Central Catholic on Thursday in a Div. V sectional opener.
No. 29 seed Heartland ends the season at 6-8-3.
No. 17 seed Canton Central will play at No. 10 West Salem Northwestern next Thursday in the district semifinal.
