Lisbon HOF to welcome six in new class

LISBON — The Lisbon David Anderson High School Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2024 will include six members with the induction ceremony set for Sept. 14 in the high school cafeteria. Inductees include: Janice (Pierce) Ward, Josh Rhodes, Erica Snoddy, Steve “Tater” Tsilimos, Lauren Ketchum and Steve Rodi (Honored Posthumously).

The inductees will be recognized at halftime of the home football game vs. East Palestine on September 13th. The induction ceremony and dinner will take place on following day in the high school cafeteria. There will be a social hour starting at 5 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6 p.m. Dinners will be $25 for adults and $15 for children. Reservations must be made by August 30th. Steve Rodi (contributor, class of 1967, honored posthumously) — Steve was a long time Lisbon resident was a dedicated caretaker of the Lisbon football field and stadium for a number of years keeping War Memorial Stadium one of the finest facilities in Columbiana County. He served our country for four years as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and then continued to serve an additional 16 years as a member of the Ohio National Guard. Steve passed away 2022 and is survived by his wife Beth Rodi and son Nick Rodi.

Janice (Pierce) Ward (volleyball and track, class on 1981) — Janice was a three sport athlete who earned eight varsity letters in her high school career. She has the school high jump record of 5-2 that has stood for 43 years. Janice won the sectional championship in both the high jump and 1600 relay her senior year and was also named honorable mention Columbiana County in volleyball her senior year.

Janice is the mother of five children Emily (Pierce) Coldwell, John Pierce, Sarah (Pierce) Brown, Stephanie Pierce, Pamela Pierce and has five grandchildren Silas, Caroline, and Ezra Coldwell, Callum and Isla Pierce. She currently resides in Lisbon and is employed at Southern Local Schools as a 4th grade teacher.

Josh Rhodes (football and basketball, class of 2000) — Josh was a 3-year letter winner in football and co-captain of the 1999 football team where he starred at fullback and linebacker. The 1999 Lisbon team was 9-1 in the regular season and the first Lisbon football team to host a playoff game. As a junior, Josh was recognized as first team All-Tri-County League and All-Columbiana County as well as honorable mention Quad County and Northeast Inland District. His senior year Josh was a first team member of the TCL, Columbiana County, Quad County and Northeast Inland district teams and also played in the 2000 Penn-Ohio All-Star Game. Josh also starred on the court where he was a 2-year letter winner who earned second team All-TCL, Columbiana County, All-Area and Northeast District his senior year.

Josh resides and Lisbon and works as a blasting technician for Hilltop Energy. He loves spending time with his girlfriend Abbey Brammer, son Tate Wallen and daughter Adison Rhodes as well as his dogs Benny and Archie.

Steve “Tater” Tsilimos (football and track, class of 2007) — Steve earned 11 varsity letters while playing track, football and basketball at Lisbon. He excelled in the 110-meter hurdles, where he holds the school record of 15.3 and was a district champion in 2006. On the football field, he earned first team honors in the Inter-Tri County League, Columbiana County Quad County and Northeast District in both 2005 and 2006. He was also honorable mention All-Ohio in 2006.

Steve went on to further his academic and athletic careers at the University of Chicago. Tater currently resides in Costa Rica where he is a sports writer, farmer and chef.

Erica Snoddy (softball, class of 2009) — Erica was a nine-time varsity letter winner while starring in softball, basketball and cross country. Erica ended her softball career with a 0.064 ERA, which along with her 2008 season ERA of 0.062 are still school records. While pitching for the Blue Devils, Erica had 40 wins and struck out 450 batters. She was a first-team all-league pitcher in 2006, 2007 and 2008. She was first team all-district in 2007 and 2007 and second team All-Ohio in 2008. Erica earned a softball scholarship to Shepherd University where earned honorable mention All-West Virginia Conference as a freshman pitcher.

Erica is employed by St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman as a registered nurse and currently resides in East Rochester with her daughter Skyler.

Lauren Ketchum (softball, class of 2011) — Lauren was a four year varsity letter winner in softball. Lauren ended her career as the all time leader in strikeouts in a career (542), strikeouts in a season (278) and strikeouts in a game (27). She earned first team honors in the ITCL, Columbiana County and Northeast district in both 2010 and in 2011. In 2011 she also earned second team All-Ohio honors.

Lauren is the daughter and fifth child of Miles and Jane Ketchum. She currently resides in Lisbon and is employed as a registered dental hygienist.
