The poultry issue

Editor: I am writing just a few days before the upcoming election to make one more effort to ensure that the residents of the city of Columbiana (Columbiana and Mahoning County) are aware and understand what they are being asked to vote on, whether for or against keeping live poultry in residential zones (neighborhoods). If passed, this resolution would remove hens from simply being defined as livestock (currently only allowed in agricultural zones) and would allow them to live in residential zones and be treated not much different than other domestic pets. Editor: Columbiana has and always will be a community that is willing to embrace what we are. We are not a community that needs perfection and intrusion by those who want and will attempt to paint our future in a manner that they believe is progress. Cemetery support

Editor: As mayor of Lisbon, I would like to draw your attention to the Lisbon Village Cemetery renewal levy on the ballot in the upcoming election. In my mind, the cemetery is on of the village treasures of which we should be very proud. The cemetery is beautifully maintained and operated very effectively and efficiently. This renewal levy generates the majority of the funds of the day to day operations of the cemetery. Editor: A little over a year ago a spotlight was shining brightly on our city from around the world. The secret of opioid addiction was no longer. The city administration and police department decided to take a stand against heroin and opioids like no one ever had.
