Editor: Listening to the discussion regarding safety at Tuesday night’s Columbiana school board meeting, I couldn’t help but hear the fear. I understand. I too entrust my child each day to the care of the Columbiana schools. I too hear the news of the latest school shootings and hope we won’t be next, that my child won’t be cowering in a classroom corner or dead on a classroom floor. Editor: I had a friend who was in her 20s. She was diagnosed with acute leukemia. She had two young children. She read everything she could find about the disease. Her prognosis — she would be dead within a year. It wasn’t even quite a year and back at The Ohio State University Hospital, the latest test showed she was out of remission. Out of desperation, she and her family prayed a desperate prayer. Things changed. She was miraculously cured. E­ditor: I have a suggestion for the layout of the newspaper. I have seen this numerous times, but it hit home more recently and I feel the need and desire to speak on behalf of all family members and the honored themselves. Traffic scams

Editor On Dec. 5, I was the lucky recipient of a Liverpool Township speeding ticket. I was unaware of such infraction until about a week later when I received a ticket in the mail. I never saw the presence of any officer or patrol car. I am not even sure where the violation occurred. When I was younger (I am 51) police were to serve and protect. Editor: I used to teach a lesson to my government students on propaganda in our society and how to recognize it. A part of politics is trying to change public opinion to shape it in certain ways and propaganda plays a big part in that. Pressure groups try to influence public opinion in order to win what they want.
