Editor: I’m sure many of us have returned from vacation with pictures and stories to dazzle our friends and family with. However, this story has a true travel tip to share with readers. Recently my wife and I were visiting Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. We noticed a plethora of dinner theaters with a variety of acts. A success in the razing

Editor: In recent articles the county land bank has been featured with its continuing success and I would simply like to expand on the value of this program. The “mow-to-own” program is a tremendous asset that allows neighbors and entire neighborhoods to beautify their area in concert with increasing their own property values and dramatically reducing blight within their communities. Grave decision

Editor: Whoever permitted parking cars in the Lisbon Cemetery during the county fair: Why would you do such a thing? A boy damaged several headstones while messing with his parents’ car that was parked there. He backed through three rows of headstones. Besides that, the parents had no insurance. Our loved ones are buried there. Have you no consideration? If you need money for the cemetery, find another way. Joyce Hillberry Lisbon

Editor: I have had the privilege over the past several decades to travel on daily errands, such as banking or grocery shopping, through a beautiful state park. This includes crossing a federally declared wild and scenic river. The views are simply stunning and the atmosphere natural and peaceful. In the fall, it rivals many a famous leaf-peeper resort. Editor: Being first cousin to former Lisbon mayor Joe Morenz, I can tell you first hand that he dearly loves Lisbon and only wants the best for our town. I know that he would continue to fight to clean up and bring more business and therefore opportunity to Lisbon, but dealing with certain people who could only stand in the way has taken its toll on him. Nobody can handle such stress forever and one has to do what they can for their own health. Financial fairness in open enrollment

Editor: Ohio’s open enrollment policy allows students to attend school in a district other than where they live. Local districts retain the right to decide whether or not they will open their doors to students outside of their community. As school funding fluctuates, many districts see open enrollment as a way to increase revenue. For open-enrolled students, the effects are certainly positive.
