Mayor thanks supporters of fireworks show

To the editor: As Mayor of the City of Salem, I want to thank the following citizens and organizations for their generous support and sponsorship, and for once again making this year’s fireworks display possible. The only money used to fund this city-wide event comes entirely from donations made from individuals, organizations and businesses. County Dem Chairman: ‘No” on Issue 1

To the editor: I am writing this letter to encourage all fellow Ohioans to vote No on Issue 1. Issue 1 is an attempt to limit the voice and power of the average voter. Regardless of your politics we all can agree that everyone’s vote counts equally. That would end if Issue 1 passes. Issue 1 raises the bar on the average citizen to require 60% for victory. Imagine watching Ohio State beat Michigan 59-41 and seeing the officials declare Michigan victorious! This is the logic Issue 1 supporters are pushing. Issue 1 also requires signature and support from all 88 counties. This would ...

‘A slap in the face to Lincoln’

To the editor: Issue 1 is a slap in the face to Lincoln, a Republican who gave his life for equality for all. Abe, the images of honesty, would cringe at today’s GOP. Most use their position for personal gain, money and power. They will not work with Democrats for the good of us all. God teaches us to care for each other. Politics are full of lies and liars. God relates over and over how much He hates liars. Liars become greedy, cheating con men, taking dark money to gain for themselves. Liars become the evil ones that deprive honest people of equality. Anyone who supports liars ...

Voting ‘NO’ on Issue 1

To the editor: Those who are capable of thinking for themselves know all to well how to vote on critical issues such as Ohio Issue 1 coming soon on August 8. A sneaky summertime election with the sneaks hoping that voter turnout will be minimal. Estimated special election costs to taxpayers: $20 million. Anytime deliberate misleading spin by one political party rears its ugly head, billionaire George Soros’ name is immediately thrown into the mix. So, let’s right this wrong for Issue 1. His name is Illinois resident and staunch conservative Dick Uihlein. Uihlein is a Chicago-area ...

Urging a “NO” vote on Issue 1

To the editor: We are urging county voters to vote “NO” on Issue 1! This is in response to the letter to the editor by Columbiana County Republican Chairman David Johnson. He states that Ohio’s Constitution is in danger of being compromised by out-of-state interests. When in fact, voting “NO” on Issue 1 will safeguard Ohio’s Constitution. When speaking of special interests, Mr. Johnson fails to mention that billionaire Richard Uihlein, from ILLINOIS, contributed $1.1 million to the OHIO Republican PAC to bring the issue to the Ohio ballot (as reported by the Columbus ...
