To the editor, In your Friday, July 21 issue, Clarence Page states in his editorial that, “McCarthy gives in to far-right faction.” After thoroughly reading his editorial, I could not find where McCarthy, the Speaker of the House, gave in to the far right. Perhaps he was referring to “Wokeism” and the fact that Senator Tuberville was holding up promotions in the military bowing toward wokeism and anti-extremism in their training. Vote ‘No’ on August 8

To the editor: On August 8, there will be a special election to consider a constitutional amendment that would result in sweeping and undemocratic changes to the rights of citizens to propose and amend Ohio’s constitution through the ballot initiative process. A process that has been in place for 111 years. Issue 1 is the brainchild of a group of Republican politicians who have decided that the time has come to take power away from voters. County Dem Chairman: ‘No” on Issue 1

To the editor: I am writing this letter to encourage all fellow Ohioans to vote No on Issue 1. Issue 1 is an attempt to limit the voice and power of the average voter. Regardless of your politics we all can agree that everyone’s vote counts equally. That would end if Issue 1 passes. Issue 1 raises the bar on the average citizen to require 60% for victory. To the editor: Issue 1 is a slap in the face to Lincoln, a Republican who gave his life for equality for all. Abe, the images of honesty, would cringe at today’s GOP.
