Words for East Liverpool residents

Dear Residents of East Liverpool: It has been a privilege to serve you as Mayor the past four years. There have been many challenges along the way but we have persevered. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our community. I am thankful for the friendships I have formed and strengthened over the past four years, the support I have received, and all the individuals that joined in the fight to move the city forward. What happened to common sense?

To the editor: A few years ago nobody would have tolerated anyone who belittled a war hero or mocked a handicapped journalist. No one would have voted for someone who bragged about sexually assaulting women, then called his victims liars. Common sense says not to trust someone who’s had multiple extra-marital affairs and paid prom starts for their silence. Or someone who stole documents from the White House and shared classified nuclear information with foreign leaders. Common sense says that only someone who is mercilessly cruel would laugh about an 82-year-old man being bludgeoned ...

Visiting Angels receives top recognition

To the editor: Recently, Visiting Angels of Salem was recognized by the HCP (Home Care Professionals) as seventh on the list of 100 leaders in experience agencies in North America. A shout out goes to Susan Frenger (20 years) and Connie Frenger (17 years). If not for your dedication, hard work and long hours, Visiting Angels would not exist today. Don’t frack Zepernick wildlife area

To the editor: The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Oil and Gas Land Management Commission (OGLMC) signed away Ohio’s state parks on November 15; approving fracking leases on Salt Fork State Park, Zepernick Wildlife Area, and Valley Run Wildlife Area. Ohio citizens submitted over 5000 comments alerting the OGLMC to peer-reviewed health and environmental studies. These were ignored. A Norfolk Southern employee’s commitment to home

To the editor: Nine months ago many of our lives changed when a train derailed alongside East Taggart Street. Everyone in this community has a story to tell about how Feb. 3 impacted our lives. As a Norfolk Southern employee who calls East Palestine home, my story isn’t more important than anyone else’s, but it’s one perspective. When the train derailed, things were tough. And because I worked for the railroad, I wondered what I could do to help.
