Ione Ebert Pierson

1930-2025

Ione Ebert Pierson, 95, passed away on Dec. 25, 2025. She was born on April 18, 1930, in Akron, Ohio to Robert Edward Ebert and Mary Gladys Wolfe Ebert. Ione was a graduate of Lisbon High School. On Feb. 20, 1949, she married Alfred James Pierson.

After graduating high school, she worked for the Lepper Library in Lisbon. She then worked in the LaCroft elementary school cafeteria for many years prior to her retirement.

Ione was a member of the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church for more than 60 years and served the church in many capacities. Mrs. Pierson was also a member of Daughters of American Revolution for close to 20 years.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Jo; her husband, Alfred; and her son-in-law, Tom Shultz, Md.

Ione is survived by four children: Allen (Peggy) Pierson, Merryanne Pierson, Nancy (Edward) Heaton, and James “Sam” (Kara) Pierson. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Jill (James) Riccardo, Jodi (Shawn) Hughes, Juli (David) Holstein, Nick Arnold, Randi (Kevin) Lowry, Ashley (Kenny) Kelley, McKenna (Gerrick) Koermer, Regan Pierson; one stepgrandson, Raymond (Julie) Shultz; 17 great- and stepgreat-grandchildren; and her brother John Ebert and his family.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025 at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation in Calcutta. The funeral service will be held at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025 at the Martin Chapel in Calcutta with Pastor Norman Eckert officiating. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service start on Tuesday.
