Dennis ‘Denny’ W. Heaver

Dennis “Denny” W. Heaver, 67, of Columbiana, died Wednesday evening, March 26, 2025, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio, following complications of an apparent heart attack.

Denny was born Feb. 4, 1958, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of the late Paul and Martha (Weaver) Heaver.

He was a 1976 graduate of Springfield Local High School (VO. Tech). After graduation he joined the United States Army and served for one year in Korea, his active duty ended in 1979. Denny hauled milk for a time and following that he worked for Green Meadows Soil Services. He then made a career change and drove truck for a couple different companies. Denny went to work for Ed Wilson and Son Trucking in New Springfield and stayed for 25 years. In those years he loved hauling coal, making wonderful friends, the truck pulls, the fundraisers, Denny was part of a winning team. He never had anything but praise for his boss, Ed Wilson, those were some of his happiest years in his working career. Times changed and Denny went to work for American Standard in Salem, he was still employed there at the time of his death. This work was a change for him but he took great pride in what he did and made new friends along the way.

In Denny’s free time, he loved watching Nascar, Tony Stewart in particular, and was a fan of country music and said “Garth Brooks is going places.” He enjoyed playing cards, taking, as he put it, “Sunday day trips,” antique stores, and was always searching for old John Deere tractors. He believed there was no other tractor besides a John Deere. Denny could talk for hours about trucks, tractors, and the “Good Ol’ Days” and he was so proud to be a veteran.

Denny leaves his wife, the former Cindy Marie Ketchum, whom he married Nov. 25, 1987; five children: Chris (Callie) Heaver, Vicky (Brian) Smith, Jamie (Carey) Weingart, Ashley (Brad) Sell, and Jeff Ketchum; his brother Bruce (Cindy) Heaver, and numerous grand children.

In addition to his parents and his brother Randy Heaver, preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, 11 a.m. at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services in Salem, with Jan Winnale officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Salem Honor Guard.

The family asks that in place of flowers, donations can be made to the Columbiana County Dog Pound or Columbiana County Humane Society.
