Robert Stewart ‘Woody’ Woods
1942-2023
SALEM — Robert Stewart “Woody” Woods, 81, passed away unexpectedly June 17, 2023, in his home, as he wished.
Bob “Woody” Woods was born March 30, 1942, in New Brighton, Pa., son of the late Raymond and Freida Woods, nee Schmolly.
Woody moved from Darlington, Pa. to East Palestine, Ohio in 1968 when he began his 30+ years of employment at General Motors, Lordstown. Prior to beginning his career at General Motors, Woody earned an Associates Degree in Business from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pa. Upon graduation from Robert Morris, Woody enlisted and served in the US Navy. Bob “Woody” Woods moved to Salem, Ohio in 1991 where he resided until his passing.
Woody’s greatest joys were spending time in his garden, riding his motorcycles, driving fast cars and socializing with his many friends around the Tri-State area, often across the Euchre table. Bob enjoyed donating his time, energy and love to rescuing and adopting feral cats. Woody gave his most time and energy to the Small World Animal Shelter in Girard, Ohio, where he also served as a member of their Board.
Woody is survived by his daughter, Dawn R. Woods of Raleigh, NC; a grandson, Anthony L. Lombard IV; and two great-grandchildren, Anthony L. Lombard V and Anna Leigh Lombard.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made in Woody’s name to the Small World Animal Shelter, 945 N State St, Girard, Ohio 44420.
