Bruce C. Layfield

COLUMBIANA — Bruce C. Layfield, 87, passed away May 29, 2023, at the St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Bruce was born May 5, 1936, in East Palestine, Ohio, son of the late Ray C. and Helen Gorby Layfield.

He was a graduate of New Waterford High School and a veteran of the US Army. Bruce was raised in the area, then resided in Florida for a number of years, prior to moving back to Columbiana County where he has resided for the past several years. Bruce is a member of Lake Mount Church of Christ. He worked as a truck driver for various area trucking firms prior to his retirement. Bruce enjoyed watching football, playing guitar and listening to bluegrass and country music.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 34 years, Bonnie Bauchman Costanzo Layfield; son, Chris (Tammy) Layfield of New Waterford; daughter, Lori Agnew of Winchester, Ky.; four stepsons, Jerry Costanzo of Columbiana, Danny Costanzo of West Palm Beach, Fla., Chris (Valarie) Costanzo of Greenville, NC, Jeff Costanzo of West Palm Beach, Fla.; step daughter, Laura (Mike) Griffore of Maple Grove, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane Morris Layfield in 1986, a son-in-law, Myron Agnew, two brothers, David and George Layfield and a half brother, William Smiley.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at the Lake Mount Church of Christ 6290 SR7, New Waterford. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.
