EAST PALESTINE – Charlotte E. Torrence, 89, of North Pleasant Drive died at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at Select Specialty Care Hospital, Boardman.

She was born Feb. 7, 1926 in New Sheffield, Pa., the daughter of the late Charles and Malinda (Freyvogle) Barto.

She had at one time been employed with the former W.S. George Pottery and as a cook with area restaurants.

Preceding her in death were her sisters, Dorothy Golicic, Alice Gross, Amanda Parker, Rosina Barto, Estermaud Barto and Ruby Barto and brothers, David and Robert Barto.

Survivors include her husband, Henry Torrence; son, Wayne I. Gorby II of East Palestine; daughters, Brenda J. Hall and Paula A. Felger, both of East Palestine, Colleen E. Sebastian of New Waterford, and Marcy J. Ford of Darlington, Pa.; brother, Richard Barto of Columbiana; sister, Shirley Rummel of East Palestine; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark McTrustry of the Centenary United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
