Elkton West Point Road to close for culvert replacement
Elkton West Point Road will be closed from Gobal Pak to Cream Ridge Road Thursday, May 21, for culvert pipe replacement.
State Route 39 to close for pavement rehabilitation in Salineville
Starting June 1, state Route 39 in Salineville will close for 75 days for a pavement rehabilitation project from state Route 524 in Mechanicstown to the Carroll/Columbiana County line, west of Salineville. The detour is state Route 524 south to state Route 164 north, state Route 164 north back to state Route 39, and reverse.

Moving and Grooving:Tuesdays at 10 a.m.
This Storytime is geared toward babies and toddlers. Come sing songs, listen to a story, and play. Older siblings are welcome to join in also.
Preschool Story Hour: Tuesdays at 11 a.m.
Sing songs, listen to stories and make crafts. Stay and play after the program. Geared toward children 3-5 but younger and older siblings are welcome.
The Last Storytime will be May 19. Storytimes will resume in the fall after Labor Day.
Evening Storytime: Today at 6 p.m.
The stuffed animal sleepover is back. Bring a stuffed animal to Storytime and read stories together and make a craft. Then, the stuffed animals will spend the night in the library. Photos of the stuffed animals will be posted on Facebook. Pick up the special friends at Storytime on Tuesday or anytime this week.
Madison Trinity Church to host Memorial Day celebration featuring local divers
Madison Trinity Church, 13480 state Route 45, Lisbon, will host a Memorial Day celebration Saturday in honor of those who serve, including two local divers, guest speaker and veteran UCI/UFEF diver Dale Hammon and guest speaker recovery diver Nate Payne. The celebration begins with dinner from 4 to 6 p.m., special music by Cheyenne Chuck at 6 p.m. and service from 6:15 to 8 p.m.
The divers were instrumental in heading up the search and recovery mission resulting from the historic flash flood tearing through Kerrville and Hunt, Texas, on July 4, 2025, claiming the lives of 27 children and councilors at Camp Mystic. Not only did they head the mission but worked extensively with the governor’s office and were featured on NBC Nightly News, detailing the efforts of their mission to recover those that perished in this historic and catastrophic event. They will be sharing their testimonies along with footage of their incredible journey and how God orchestrated it all, from beginning to end.

Bingocize classes to be offered at Sebring Library
Mahoning County Public Health is offering Bingocize classes for 10 weeks at the Sebring Library, 195 W. Ohio St. from 11 a.m. to noon Mondays and Wednesdays beginning June 8. These classes are a combination of fitness and health education that incorporates the game of bingo. Bingocize is focused on helping sedentary adults aged 55 and over to fit physical activity into their lives, in a fun way, to help to reduce their risk of falling. Columbiana County CAA taking PIPP applications
LISBON – The Community Action Agency of Columbiana County (CAA) will be taking applications for the Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP plus) at the Lisbon office located at 7860 Lincole Place (rear). Appointments can be made by calling 330-424-4013. All appointments will be face-to-face appointments for energy assistance at this location. All applications during this time will be completed at the agency.
Clients will be scheduled appointment time. The client will be required to provide the required documents. If all required documents are not provided, the application cannot be completed. If all documents are not provided, the client will be scheduled a return.
Fridays will be same-day appointments only, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. All appointments will be at the agency. All Friday appointments are on a first-come first-serve basis until all appointments are filled for the day.
Making an appointment will not stop a pending disconnection.
Applications for PIPP and HEAP can be filled out online at www.energyhelp.ohio.gov. Applicants will need to set up an account to complete the online application. Applicants need to ensure required documents are available to upload during the application process.

Brightside Project to host Arby Reunion Cruise & Car Show
SALEM — The Brightside Project will host its second annual Arby Reunion Cruise & Car Show Saturday, May 30, at The Brightside Project, 1909 N. Ellsworth Ave.
This family-friendly community event will bring together car enthusiasts, families and supporters from across the region for a full day of classic cars, cruising, music, food, and fun, all while raising funds to support local children through The Brightside Project’s programs and services.
The event celebrates the spirit and memories of the former Arby’s Cruise gatherings while creating a new tradition centered on community and giving back. Organizers are inviting all makes and models to participate with the motto: “If it has wheels, bring it!
Car show registration begins at 9 a.m. with a $5 registration fee, and the first 100 participants will receive a commemorative dash plaque. Trophy presentations will begin after 2 p.m., with cruising continuing throughout the day until 5 p.m.
Attendees can also enjoy:
