Sheriff’s Office

— A woman on state Route 39, Washington Township, reported at 11:44 p.m. Thursday that her neighbor was slandering her over her horse walking with a limp. She was advised to contact an attorney.

— A deputy was dispatched at 10:57 p.m. Thursday to a residence on Wayne Bridge Road, Center Township, for an open 911 line. The homeowner said everything was fine.

— A person from Reed Street, Alliance called at 5:29 p.m. Thursday to report a person from Hartley Road, Knox Township stole a pair of their tennis shoes from their Alliance residence. The person was told to contact Alliance Police since they live in Alliance’s jurisdiction.

— Columbiana County Child Protective Services called at 4:02 p.m. Thursday to request a deputy go to a residence on Glasgow Road, Madison Township to see if a woman who’s not supposed to be there is actually there. The deputy was unable to make contact with anyone at the residence.

— A woman on Emerick Road, Franklin Township reported at 11:49 a.m. Thursday that her neighbor has a chicken farm and they are dumping dead chickens on the property line. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources was contacted and will be handling the incident.

— A woman on Kirk Road, Fairfield Township reported 11:20 p.m. Wednesday that her daughter from Salem called and left her unwanted voicemails.

— A deputy was dispatched at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday to a Lisa Lane residence, Center Township, for a domestic violence report. All parties involved signed a refusal.

— A man on Black Road, Center Township called at 8:04 p.m. Wednesday to request a welfare check on his daughter at a residence on Steubenville Pike Road, Center Township due to her asking for help. A deputy went to the residence but was unable to make contact with anyone.

Salem

— Jacob Frederick Deer, 18, Lisbon Road, Salem, was cited for failure to obey a traffic signal following a two-vehicle crash in the 2400 block of East State Street at 1:53 p.m. Saturday in which he was eastbound and allegedly failed to stop for a red light, striking a northbound vehicle driven by Nancy Sparkman, 64, Canfield, who was making a right turn. No injuries were reported.

— Christy Sue Keglor, 51, Barclay Avenue, Salem, was cited for failure to control and no valid driver’s license and arrested on an active warrant out of Columbiana County for failure to appear following a one-vehicle crash in the 1500 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 7:35 a.m. Saturday in which she was southbound and allegedly swerved to miss a rabbit in the roadway, striking a utility pole. No injuries were reported.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 12:47 a.m. Saturday in reference to a person to be removed. The person was trespassed from the property and advised they would be arrested if they return.

— Officers responded with medical personnel to a 400 block Franklin Avenue home at 12:40 a.m. Saturday in reference to an individual who wanted to go to the hospital. The individual was voluntarily transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

— Officers responded with medical personnel to a 400 block East Perry Street home at 12:40 a.m. Saturday in reference to an individual having a manic episode. The individual was ultimately transported to a local hospital by ambulance.

— A patrolling officer at 11:14 p.m. Friday found a juvenile in Waterworth Memorial Park and determined the juvenile had run away from home. The juvenile was given a ride to an East Euclid Street home and turned over to a parent.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Howard Avenue at 8:51 p.m. Friday in reference to someone acting suspicious in the laundromat. The person was trespassed from the property.

— Robert L. Hays, 36, North Lincoln Avenue, Salem, was charged with telecommunications harassment after turning himself in on a warrant at 7:45 p.m. Friday.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Cunningham Road at 6:19 p.m. Friday where employees reported a guest had not paid for a room beyond the prior date, so his items were removed and placed behind the front desk. Employees said the guest became irate, taking his belongings and leaving before officers arrived. They asked that the person be trespassed from the property.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 6:12 p.m. Friday to speak with a private investigator regarding a sex offense. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded with medical personnel to a 100 block North Ellsworth Avenue business at 1:48 a.m. Friday in reference to a patron bleeding and found the person lying on their back with a large wound on the back of their head. The patron was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation. The matter is under investigation.

— A patrolling officer at 1:38 a.m. Friday observed a suspicious vehicle parked behind closed businesses near the dumpster in the 2300 block of East State Street. Officers found the occupants of the vehicle several businesses away near a dumpster and advised them they were trespassing and to leave the area.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of West State Street at 8:59 a.m. Thursday in reference to multiple tools taken out of one of the shop’s vehicles. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers observed two people riding bicycles in a suspicious manner in the Salem hospital parking garage at 12:33 a.m. Thursday and found a juvenile in a neighboring parking lot. Officers took the juvenile into custody for a curfew violation and turned them over to a guardian.

— Officers responded to the area of East School and East Fourth streets at 12:01 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a telephone pole that was knocked over into the middle of the street due to severe weather. Officers provided traffic control until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the rear of a 200 block South Broadway Avenue business at 1:17 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a suspicious vehicle and found someone going through the dumpsters. The person was advised to leave.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Aetna Street at 7:08 p.m. Tuesday in reference to people yelling inside a residence. Officers were unable to make contact with anyone at the residence.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Continental Drive at 6:53 p.m. Tuesday in reference to juveniles playing in the parking lot and opening car doors. Officers were unable to find the juveniles, but contacted the business about the unlocked vehicles.

— Officers responded to Waterworth Memorial Park at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday in reference to juveniles chasing and throwing objects at the geese. Officers spoke with the juveniles and learned one of them used a slingshot to shoot an object at the birds. All the juveniles were warned if they were caught mistreating the wildlife or breaking park rules they would be banned from all parks in the city for up to a year, and they were advised to go home. The slingshot was confiscated and taken to the police station for a parent to retrieve it.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive at 3:08 p.m. Tuesday in reference to man who made statements of self harm in the past couple days and had not been heard from since. Officers were unable to find the man and BOLO was issued for other officers to watch for him.

— Officers responded with medical personnel to the 1000 block of East 10th Street at 2:01 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a man having a mental health crisis. The man agreed to be transported to an appropriate medical facility for further evaluation
