Salem

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 12:53 p.m. Friday regarding their juvenile nephew leaving their residence without permission and not returning. Officers had them fill out a runaway form, and the juvenile was entered into LEADS.

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East Pershing Street at 9:19 a.m. Friday for a reported combative patient. The caller advised that the person in question was yelling and throwing items. When officers arrived, the person in question had calmed down and was waiting for his ride.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 9:03 a.m. Friday for a reported theft. Officers spoke with the involved parties and were able to resolve the issue.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Washington Avenue at 8:53 a.m. Friday for a reported protection order violation order. The caller advised that a person they had a protection order against was texting her. Officers documented the text messages and confirmed that the protection order and a warrant will be issued.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Penn Avenue at 8:17 a.m. Friday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that his ex-girlfriend keeps calling him, and he does not want to speak with them anymore. Officers responded to the ex’s residence and advised them to cease all contact with the caller.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Union Avenue at 7:25 a.m. Friday for a reported dispute. Officers spoke with the involved parties, and it was determined to be a dispute between a mother and her juvenile son about going to school. Officers advised them of the complaint.

– Officers arrested Paul Schrag, 35, last known address East Liverpool, on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Officers after observing him driving through a parking lot in the 2800 block of East State Street at 12:24 p.m. Tuesday and knew he had the warrant for his arrest.

– Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday in reference to a domestic dispute and spoke with the caller, who said his brother was yelling. Officers spoke with both individuals and advised them to stay away from each other.

– Officers responded to the 600 block of Woodland Avenue at 9:49 p.m. Monday in reference to a person to be removed. Officers arrived and heard yelling inside the home. Officers determined nothing physical had occurred and advised the individuals to separate to calm down.

– Officers arrested Donna May, 39, Salem, for drug paraphernalia and an active warrant after officers observed her walking in the area of South Lundy Avenue and Franklin Street at 9:08 p.m. Monday and knew her to have the active warrant.

– Officers were flagged down in the rear parking lot of the police department at 6:36 p.m. Monday by a woman who wanted to talk about her son abusing his medication. Her son had followed her to the police department because he know she was making a report in reference to him. Officers spoke with both individuals and the woman left to get away from her son.

– David M. Butcher, 53, Salem, was charged with criminal trespass after officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 5:20 p.m. Monday where he allegedly entered an apartment without permission.

– Officers responded to the 600 block of Aetna Street at 10:40 a.m. Monday in reference to a possible natural death. A local funeral home responded to transfer the deceased individual.

– Officers responded to the 1000 block of East 10th Street at 6:57 a.m. Monday in reference to a theft of medication. Officers explained the options to the caller, who said they just wanted the matter documented

— A police officer responded to a report of a downed tree across Main Street just before state Route 344 at 6:54 a.m. March 4 and removed the obstacle from across the road before canceling the fire department.

— Officers encountered an intoxicated male stumbling around at 1:15 a.m. March 7 on the sidewalk in the area of State and Main streets. The man, who was not cited, told the officers that he was okay and was walking home. Police encountered him a short while later in the first block of Lisbon Street, where he fell over in a yard. After the male, Ian Cole, was given several verbal warnings for open marijuana in a public space, trespassing and public intoxication, Cole was returned to his residence in the 300 block of Waddell Street.

— A resident allegedly from OmniFiber had approached a Butcher Road residence March 7 and asked for the occupant’s banking information. Stone Smith, once checked, had a permit for soliciting but it was expired, officers learned later. He had been given a verbal warning for soliciting after hours and released.
