— Cody Wilt was issued a verbal warning for an obstructed license plate and a citation with a court date for driving under FRA suspension during a Feb.13 traffic stop on West Ninth Street.
— A driver was given a verbal warning for a defective exhaust during a Feb. 13 traffic stop on West Eighth Street.
— A male who came to the police station on Feb. 13 to file a breaking and entering complaint told officers he rents a room from his brother and he has to lock his bedroom door and that was breaking and entering. Officers told him it wasn’t because his brother owns the home.
— Warrants were issued for Harleigh Crawford and Shannelle Romano for shoplifting from Nikki’s Place on Feb. 13 after an officer watched CCTV which captured the thefts.
— Officers searched the area of Dakota Street on Feb. 13 for a male who was reported to be acting strange and trying to get into Dave and Deb’s Bar.
– Two juveniles were charged with public intoxication and underage consumption after an officer observed one of them appear to be sitting or lying down in the Elks parking lot on Feb. 14. The officer called for a second officer to meet him in the area, by then the juveniles had left the parking lot. After patrolling the area, officers located the juveniles and detected an odor of alcohol coming from them. Due to the juveniles being out past curfew and intoxicated, they were searched for contraband. Between the two juveniles, officers found marijuana, cigars, a burnt pipe, 6mg Zyn, a THC vape, vodka, apple brandy and two cans of lime margarita bear in a backpack. One of the juveniles became combative. They were both placed in custody and put in separate cruisers and transported to the police station where their parents were contacted. The juveniles were released to their parents.
– Officers observed a vehicle with caution lights on running a red light at West Eighth and Lisbon streets on Feb. 14 and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. When the vehicle failed to stop for the officer with the emergency lights, the officer turned the siren on. At that point the vehicle stopped on West Sixth Street, and the driver yelled out the window, “my daughter and ER.” The officers followed the vehicle to the ER where there was found to be a medical emergency.
– An officer on patrol on state Route 39 on Feb. 14, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle where the driver had flashed the high beams several times at the officer. The driver was identified and told the officer he was OK, he was just flashing his lights to say hello to the officer.
– An officer dispatched to Webber Way on Feb. 14 to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol arrived on the scene to find a trooper already had a male in custody.
– Officers sent to Fifth and Jackson streets for a resident throwing snow in the street on Feb. 14 told the person to stop doing it.
– Officers searched the area of Rigby and Grant streets for riders reported to be riding dirt bikes on the road. Officers located the riders at a garage and told them not to have the dirt bikes on the roadway.
– An officer spoke to the owner of a vehicle reportedly blocking the roadway on Northside Avenue on Feb. 14. The owner told the officers he did not know it was blocking the roadway, and the vehicle must have slid out of the driveway due to it been icy. The vehicle was moved.
– Officers searched around the Vista Hotel on Feb. 14 for a suicidal male who was reported to be walking in the roadway. Officers located the male who said he was trying to get to Trinity Hospital in Steubenville to get help and he refused transpiration to the East Liverpool City Hospital, and he couldn’t afford Medicare to get the prescriptions he needs. An officer transported the male to 213 Park n Ride to meet Jcom to be transported to the Trinity Hospital. Northstar refused to transport.
– An officer spoke with a female who was requesting advice on what to do with her unruly child on Feb. 14.
– An officer observed a vehicle with one working headlight traveling on West Eighth Street on Feb. 14 and conducted a traffic stop. The driver said she hit a deer and will be getting it fixed soon. She was given a verbal warning.
– Officers tried to conduct a traffic stop for a driver who failed to signal 100 feet before a stop sign, but the driver continued driving until he pulled into his driveway. The driver told the officer he did not pull over because it was illegal to pull someone over in the middle of the roadway, so he drove to his house. Officers gave the driver a short education and a verbal warning.
– Officers conducted traffic on state Route 39 on Feb. 14 for a vehicle with an obstructed license plate. The driver was giving a verbal warning after telling officers he just pulled the vehicle out of storage due to the weather being nice and has not done anything with the vehicle yet.
Salem
–Officers responded to the 1000 block of Cleveland Street at 3:19 p.m. Thursday for a reported juvenile issue. The caller advised their juvenile daughter has been having issues at school with other juvenile females and one of them had come to their house to fight her daughter. Officers spoke with all parties involved and advised them to stay away from one another. The school resource officer was also advised.
