Sheriff’s Office
— A juvenile-related report was taken at 5:07 p.m. Thursday on Depot Street, Rogers.
— A man on Morris Road, Elkrun Township reported at 4:06 p.m. Thursday that he was living on another man’s property and was served with an eviction notice from the property owner to leave the property. The eviction process was explained to him.
— A deputy at 3:47 p.m. Thursday assisted the Columbiana County Dog Warden at a residence on Speidel Road, Hanover Township, due to a man’s dogs leaving his property and going to the neighbor’s property and killing 20 chickens.
— A woman on state Route 170, Middleton Township, reported at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday that her ex-finance, whom she lives with, was posting statements on social media about having a bedroom for rent to any child molester and he had a female for sale. She was advised to contact Facebook and make a complaint.
— An alarm was reported at 10:18 p.m. Tuesday at Dollar General, state Route 172, Hanover Township. All doors and windows were secure at ground level.
— A woman on Steubenville Pike Road, Center Township, reported at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday that she’s having custody issues with her child’s father of Akron, who isn’t following the court order.
— Deputies were dispatched at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday to Zep’s Pizza and More at Pinky’s, state Route 172, Hanover Township, for a 10-year-old child sitting inside a vehicle by themselves. Deputies located the juvenile and spoke with the mother who was also present inside the vehicle. They were waiting for their food to be ready.
— Deputies were dispatched at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday to a property on Canal Street, West Township, for a domestic violence report involving multiple family members and a firearm present. No family members wanted to press charges and some left the residence.
— John A. White, Campbell Road, Hanoverton, was charged with theft after a deputy was dispatched at 7:15 p.m. Feb. 6 to Hull’s Super Duper, state Route 172, Hanover Township, for a theft report.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Madison Avenue at 4:10 a.m. Friday for a reported water line break. The break was located and the water department was notified.
— Officers responded to the area of South Union Avenue and East State Street at 2:31 a.m. Friday for a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers checked the vehicle, which was unoccupied and made patrols around the surrounding area and did not observe anything unusual. Officers spoke with a resident and advised them to call if they saw anything out of the ordinary.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Franklin Avenue at 11:26 p.m. Thursday to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol. K-9 Chaz was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotic odor coming from a vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 9:18 p.m. Thursday for a reported intoxicated man. The caller advised a vehicle had run off the road into a snowbank off South Lincoln Avenue and that the driver then fell into the snow and stumbled to the caller’s vehicle, which he attempted to get into. Officers located the man, David Burford, 45, Salem, and detained him. After he admitted to drinking heavily, he was transported to the police department for processing and after a positive breath check was charged with OVI and failure to control. The vehicle was towed by Kaiser’s towing.
— Officers located a dog in the roadway in the 1000 block of Maple Street at 5:03 p.m. Thursday. When officers approached, it ran to the porch and stayed there. Officers contacted the owner who responded and took the dog inside.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of Newgarden Avenue at 4:45 p.m. Thursday for a reported ambulance needed. The juvenile caller advised that they took a handful of prescription pills. The juvenile was transported to Akron Children’s Boardman for medical attention by EMT.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 4:23 p.m. Thursday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that their daughter has been having issues with another juvenile at school and that the two had been involved in a dispute after school. Officers advised the caller of the options for dealing with the situation. The information will be forwarded to the School Resource Officer.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 3:37 p.m. Thursday regarding a possible sex offense which occurred within the city. Officers gathered the caller’s information and that of all possibly involved parties. The case was turned over to the detectives.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Union Avenue at 11:59 a.m. Thursday for a report of telephone harassment. The caller advised them that they had received a threat on social media. Officers advised the caller of their options for dealing with the situation.
–Juan Contreras, 28, Berlin Center, was cited for improper backing after her vehicle struck the driver’s side of a vehicle driven by Madison Dickens, 24, Salem, while backing out of a private drive in the 1700 block of Cleveland Street at 9:32 a.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.
Columbiana
— An officer investigated a call about possible harassment at 7:19 p.m. Feb. 7 in the 100 block of East Friend Street.
— Damian Richardson, of Youngstown, was cited at 5:37 p.m. Feb. 6 for speed in the area of North Main Street and state Route 14.
– Michael Delsignore, of Columbiana, was served at 2:04 p.m. Feb. 6 on an active warrant out of Boardman Township in the 400 block of North Main Street.
— Ashley Miller, no address listed, was cited at 5:18 a.m. Feb. 6 in the area of state Routes 7 and 14 for driving under suspension, as a result of a traffic stop.
— Police responded at 8 pm. Feb. 5 to the 100 block of Park Court to remove a subject who was trying to get court documents signed. All parties were separated for the night.
— A male subject reported dropping an unknown sum of U.S. currency at a gas station in the first block of West Park Avenue sometime before 10:54 a.m. Feb. 4.
— Two county residents were cited as a result of a traffic stop at 1:04 p.m. Feb. 3 on state Route 14 near Redpath Drive. Jonathan C. Patrick-Yeater, of East Liverpool, was charged with driving under suspension, while his passenger Michael Murphy, of Negley, was cited for open container.
— Brandon Rakes, of Alliance, was cited shortly after midnight Feb. 1 in the first block of West Park Avenue for driving without a license, after a traffic stop at a gas station.
East Palestine
–An officer provided a standby for a disabled vehicle at 9:38 a.m. Feb. 7 on Carbon Hill Road near the park exit.
–Police responded to a loose dog complaint at 10:45 a.m. Feb. 7 near West North Avenue and East Street. No dog was found.
–Officers responded at 2:35 p.m. Feb. 7 to the 200 block of East Clark Street for a disturbance, finding numerous broken items as a result of a physical altercation. Upon further investigation, none of the participants had resulting marks or bruising. The owner of the residence declined to press criminal damaging charges.
–Police were dispatched at 1:31 a.m. Feb. 3 to the 500 block of West North Avenue to assist an elderly male who was having trouble breathing. They assisted the male’s wife in getting him into the vehicle, so he could be taken to the hospital.
–An unwanted individual was trespassed from the Covington Health Care property at 6:27 p.m. Feb. 8.
–A noise complaint was investigated at 5:55 p.m. Feb. 8 in the 200 block of Wood Street.
–Officers responded at 11 a.m. Feb. 9 to the 800 block of West Martin Street to investigate an ongoing disturbance, involving the caller’s daughter and her boyfriend. It was determined no violence occurred, except to the male, who damaged his dirt bike and both parties separated for the day to avoid anyone going to jail.
–Police provided mutual aid to Chippewa police by contacting a Lyons Avenue resident at 2:26 a.m. Feb. 10 in regards to an incident that occurred in their jurisdiction.
–Officers provided assistance to an older female who was stuck in the snow at a Wood Street residence at 4:49 pm. Feb. 10 in order to get her safely home.
–A caller in the 400 block of North Sumner Street reported at 7:20 p.m. Feb. 10 finding a wallet from an unknown subject in the back of his vehicle. The man advised that he had recently had his car detailed in Youngstown and thought maybe an employee had left it in his vehicle accidentally. Upon contacting the owner of the business, it was discovered the wallet did belong to an employee who will pick it up later in the week.
–Officers performed a welfare check on behalf of Columbiana County Department of Job and Family Services at noon Feb. 11, as a female in the 100 block of West Martin Street wasn’t returning calls to her case worker. Upon arrival, no one was home. However, the resident’s vehicle had returned a short time later but she wouldn’t open the door or phone.
