Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy responded at 9:16 p.m. Saturday to the Rogers Feed Mill, Depot Street, Rogers for an alarm, finding all windows and doors secure and no signs of forced entry.
— A deputy returned a call at 8:22 p.m. Saturday regarding a civil matter on Carmel Achor Road, Middleton Township, speaking to both parties involved and advising them how to proceed.
— A man on Glasgow Road, Wayne Township called at 1:14 p.m. Saturday to request a welfare check on his neighbor due to not seeing him in over a week. A deputy didn’t have contact with the man, but did talk to him by phone. He said he was at his residence and he was fine.
— Deputies were dispatched at 3:14 a.m. Saturday to an alarm at Dollar General, U.S. Route 62, Knox Township. All doors and windows were secure at ground level.
— Deputies were dispatched at 12:13 a.m. Saturday to a residence on Crestview Road, Fairfield Township, for a person having mental health issues. The person said they needed to go to a hospital. Columbiana EMS transported the person to a hospital in Mahoning County.
— Deputies responded at 8:57 p.m. Friday to Pancake Clarkson Road, Middleton Township for a person having mental health issues. Deputies were advised the person wanted to go to a hospital to get checked out. EMS responded and transported the person to a hospital. The person’s relative was informed.
— A telecommunication harassment report was taken at 6:13 p.m. Friday on Lower Elkton Road, Fairfield Township. The caller was advised to block the number.
–Aetna Insurance at 6:09 p.m. Friday requested a welfare check on a woman on Parkview Drive, Center Township, due to having no water at the residence. A deputy spoke with the woman, who advised she was fine.
— The assistant manager of Dollar General, state Route 172, Hanover Township, reported a man by the dumpster of the store. A deputy arrived and had no contact with the man on the property or in the area.
— A man on Spillway Road, Hanover Township reported at 7:18 p.m. Thursday that he was having a custody issue with the mother of his child. She lives in Hanoverton and this was over their 9-year-old son.
— Deputies were dispatched at 5:42 p.m. Thursday to Yates Road, Salem Township, for a domestic violence report. All parties involved signed a refusal.
— A welfare check was requested at 4:51 p.m. Thursday for a man on Rose Drive, Center Township. A deputy spoke with the homeowner and was told the man does not live there and they didn’t know who he was.
— A woman on Neeld Road, Unity Township reported at 10:50 p.m. Jan. 28 that a man was driving a silver Lincoln vehicle up and down the road and when asked if he was okay, he said he was waiting for his girlfriend to leave. A deputy checked the area, but didn’t find him.
— A man on state Route 170, Middleton Township called at 9:10 p.m. Jan. 28 to request a welfare check on his neighbor due to her driveway not being plowed and he hadn’t seen anyone at the residence. A deputy checked but had no contact with anyone at the residence.
— Deputies were dispatched at 5:58 p.m. Jan. 28 to Yellow Creek Church Road, Franklin Township, for a person who took a bunch of medication. Franklin Township EMS was on the scene and the person advised they wanted to go to a hospital. Northstar EMS transported the person to East Liverpool City Hospital in East Liverpool.
— A deputy at 4:05 p.m. Jan. 28 assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol with a traffic accident on Homeworth Road at Buck Road, Knox Township.
— Deputies responded at 9:33 p.m. Jan. 26 to Old Monroeville Road, Salineville, regarding a domestic. Deputies spoke with both parties and were advised everything was a misunderstanding. Refusals were signed.
— Neighbor troubles were reported at 8:27 p.m. Jan. 26 on state Route 45, Center Township. Deputies spoke with both parties involved and were advised both would be civil and an agreement was reached.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 7:45 p.m. Monday for a reported hit-and-skip. The caller advised that they witnessed a gray truck back into a parked vehicle in the parking lot and leave the scene northbound. Officers spoke with the owner of the parked vehicle and photographed damage to the rear left of the vehicle. The owner was provided with an incident number and advised that an investigation would be conducted.
— Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Sixth Street at 10:39 p.m. Saturday for a report of possible shots fired. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anything.
— Officers took a report of a scam at the police department at 6:16 p.m. Saturday. The person advised that he got a call from someone claiming to be a sheriff that stated they had to send money through a Walmart code. The caller sent money before realizing it was a scam. Officers advised them not to send any more money and that the number would be given to detectives.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of Newgarden Avenue at 5:57 p.m. Saturday for a reported assault. The caller advised that they had been having problems with their girlfriend’s daughter and wanted to make a report of it. He advised that she had gotten into his face and was pushing him. Officers advised him that a report would be on file.
— Officers on patrol in the area of Jennings Avenue and West Second Street at 2:03 p.m. Saturday located a vehicle being driven by a man with no valid license. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the driver, Jeffrey McCain, 51, Salem, confirmed that his license was suspended. Officers issued a citation for driving under suspension and located contraband within the vehicle, taking McCain into custody charged with drug paraphernalia and transported him to the police department for processing prior to being released with a court summons.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 1:46 p.m. Saturday regarding an incident which occurred earlier in the week. The caller advised that they had a verbal argument with an individual regarding a Facebook post. The caller advised that the other person claimed to know where they lived and other personal information and wanted the incident on file.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Cherry Street at 12:30 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised that they were just upset about their vehicle not working.
— Evelyn Violette, 19, Austintown, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle struck a vehicle driven by Patrick Hull, 23, Leetonia, while attempting to pull out of a private drive at 11:23 a.m. Saturday. Hull’s vehicle was removed by Sinsley’s Towing, and no injuries were reported.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Sunset Boulevard at 10:08 a.m. Saturday for a possible water line break. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate any break.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Columbia Street at 12:40 a.m. Friday for a loud music complaint. Officers spoke with a resident and advised them of the complaint.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 9:36 p.m. Friday for a wellness check. The caller advised that they had not heard from their neighbor in three days, and that they had opened the door and shouted for the neighbor, but nobody answered. Officers searched the residence and found the neighbor to be deceased. The fire department and EMT were contacted and responded to the scene, and the county coroner was consulted via cell phone. Due to being unable to locate a next of kin they were transported to the morgue by EMT. The caller, Christina McClanahan, 43, Salem, was then taken into custody for an active warrant and transported to the police department for booking and then to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Jennings Avenue at 9:30 p.m. Friday for a reported dog at large. Officers located a dog running loose on the street and were also able to locate its owner.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of North Howard Avenue at 6:51 p.m. Friday for a wellness check. The person in question had contacted their spouse and advised they were having a possible medical emergency. Officers spoke with the man who agreed to be assessed by EMS, and the fire department and EMT responded and transported them to an appropriate medical facility for further evaluation.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone in the 1300 block of East Tenth Street at 5:40 p.m. Friday regarding their mother’s whereabouts. The caller advised that their mother was treated at a local hospital, with a plan in place for her care, and was advised that they would be contacted if plans changed for their mother’s care as they have full power of attorney. When the caller went to check on their mother the next day, she had been transported to a different facility which is not cooperating with the caller or their attorney. Officers contacted the prosecutor on call to determine if the matter was a criminal or civil issue, and the matter is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East State Street at 2:13 p.m. Friday for a report of a box truck impeding the flow of traffic. Officers observed the driver loading a vending machine into the box truck, and the driver advised that they were almost done and left shortly thereafter.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Woodland Avenue at 2:05 p.m. Friday for a reported domestic dispute. The caller advised that their live-in boyfriend had started a verbal altercation and threatened her. Officers spoke with the male half and were advised that the argument was over children and property due to separating. The female half did not want to pursue charges for the threat, and both parties were advised not to have any further contact with each other for the remainder of the evening.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue at 2:01 p.m. Friday for a reported reckless driver. Officers located the vehicle in question and spoke with the driver, who advised that he was having issues with their heater, and their window was icing over making it difficult to see. Officers observed ice on the inside windshield.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Washington Avenue at 1:42 p.m. Friday for a warrant check. Officers spoke with the owner of the residence who advised them that the wanted person was not there.
— Officers on patrol in the area of South Union Avenue and Maple Street at 1:07 p.m. Friday observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and K-9 Fero was deployed and indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor. The driver was issued a written warning for the traffic violation.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Third Street at 10:17 a.m. Friday for a wellness check. The caller advised they were concerned due to having not heard from the individual for several days. Officers knocked and rang the doorbell several times, but nobody answered. Contact will be attempted again at a later time.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Arch Street at 10:08 a.m. Friday for a wellness check on a woman who was possibly being held against their will. Officers spoke with the woman in question, who confirmed that she was not being held against her will and that they had an ongoing issue with the caller and were not in any danger.
— Officers assisted the Lisbon Police Department at the police department at 1:10 a.m. Sunday by conducting an OVI breath test. Once the test was completed, Lisbon officers transported the person in question back to their department.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Fair Avenue at 12:08 p.m. Saturday for a reported barking dog. Officers did hear barking inside the residence when they approached, but nobody answered the door.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East State Street at 11:25 p.m. Saturday for a report of someone throwing bottles at the door of a business. Officers advised the caller that a report would be filed, and any damage would be photographed.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 10:53 p.m. Saturday for a reported dispute. The caller advised that a person at a neighboring business had become physical with the caller. Officers advised the caller that they could fill out a statement. An investigation will be pending.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of West State Street at 10:41 p.m. Saturday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a person was making people feel uncomfortable inside the store. Officers were unable to locate them.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Fair Avenue at 2:49 p.m. Monday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with the parties involved, and it was determined to be a verbal dispute between family members with no physical violence reported. Officers provided one of the people involved with a ride to the police department to wait for a friend to pick them up.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:17 p.m. Monday for a parking complaint. Officers contacted a family member of the vehicle’s owner, and he was advised of the complaint.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Aetna Street at 1:19 p.m. Monday for a reported vicious dog. Officers located the animal and contacted the humane society. The humane agent responded and took possession of the animal.
— Officers responded to the area of South Broadway Avenue at 12:37 p.m. Monday for a report of solicitors. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the people in question.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 11:55 a.m. Monday for a reported person to be removed. Officers spoke with the woman in question who advised that they were there to pick up their wife. Officers spoke with the wife who advised that they did not want to leave, and officers advised the first woman of the same and she left the area.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 11:43 a.m. Monday for a wellness check on a city resident. Officers were able to speak with the woman in question who advised that she was fine.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 8:18 a.m. Monday who advised that they had received a threat by phone. Officers took the information and it will be forwarded to a detective.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of South Lundy Avenue at 1:19 a.m. Monday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller advised that a person keeps calling and that they just want to be left alone. Officers spoke with the person in question and advised them to stop contacting the caller.
— Officers responded to the 2400 block of Southeast Boulevard at 8:50 p.m. Sunday for a reported reckless operator. The caller advised that a vehicle was tailgating him and passed him. Officers located the vehicle and did not observe anything reckless nor any signs of impairment.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 7:24 p.m. Sunday for a reported parking complaint. Officers advised the person in question to move their vehicle, and they did so.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Woodland Avenue at 6:37 p.m. Sunday to check for a man with multiple warrants through other agencies. Officers spoke with the homeowner, who said the man was not there.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of South Lundy Avenue at 5:40 p.m. Sunday for a report of disputed property. The caller advised that a woman would not return property to them. Officers spoke with the woman in question and learned that the caller had obtained the property and left prior to officers’ arrival.
— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 5:37 p.m. Sunday regarding threats being made toward them. They advised that a man had threatened them in the 500 block of Walnut Street, and that while they did not want to pursue charges, they did want officers to speak with the man. Officers spoke with the man and advised him not to speak with the woman.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of West Sixth Street at 4:02 p.m. Sunday for a report of a man having emotional issues. Officers spoke with the man, who advised that they were having depressive thoughts due to the snow and being stuck in their residence. The man stated he wanted to go to the hospital to talk to someone about the issues he’s been having.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Benton Road at 2 p.m. Sunday for a reported reckless driver. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in question, and advised the driver of the reckless driving report, which they denied. Officers did not observe any signs of impairment, and the driver was given a verbal warning for failure to signal.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 1:40 p.m. Sunday for a report of a man shoveling snow onto the roadway. Officers located the man and advised him to stop shoveling the snow into the roadway to avoid potential hazards.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Fourth Street at 12:46 p.m. Sunday for a reported 911 hang-up call. The resident was contacted and advised that everything was fine and that a child had gotten a hold of his mom’s phone.
— Officers responded to the 1500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 8:46 a.m. Sunday for a possible water line break. Officers located the break in the 100 block of West 16th Street, and the water department was notified.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 5:18 a.m. Sunday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that someone had rung their doorbell and then run off. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate them.
